"Welcome back Mr. Jones . . . . " is a type of message that amazon displays when one has purchased books now how can it be decided if this is an invasion of privacy or good marketing mch like that of wen in a store & a credit card is used, the store manages to have a record of one's buying behaviour & also some companies sell their lists & some dont for one to start recieving catalogues!
What I want to know is where should the line be drawn & how is it fairly decided whether it is an invasion of privacy or just brilliant marketing?

Hello: Recognition is what brings people back, we all want to feel important, and in the past the Customer was always a main ingrediant to any business person's business. The more you respected the customer and made that customer feel welcomed by recognition the more the customer felt like they were being treated like a "king/queen", and when we work hard for our money and spend it, at least it is nice to be recognized when we have traded or given a certain company our money for their products. So, I feel this is good business practice, and in many cases will allow the steps for returning customers. Invasion of privacy, to me happens any Company takes an individuals information and without consent sales it to another Company, or transfers any private information to anything that the Customer does not know about. That is why consumers are told to ask for the carbon copy if used so no one can filter through the trash and retrieve information about them. Also, to read and fully understand any documents one signs. Hopefully, this helps. If there is anything further that I may assist you with, please let me know. Respectfully, bal317 |
