Are "boxer shorts" and "boxer briefs" the same thing? Is the former the one boxers were, and the latter underwear? Or does the former have more room and the latter fit?
How about when you simply say "boxers"? Which one do you mean then?

CT, you never fail to make me laugh.
In the US, we don't call anything "boxer briefs". There are "boxer shorts" and "briefs". Both are underwear. What professional fighters wear are usually called "silks". The "boxer" designation for the underwear style reflects the similarity between what boxers wear and the undersear style. "Briefs" are the tight-fitting stretch cotton or cotton/polyester blend style and differ from "bikini" style and other cuts in several minor ways.
When you say "boxers" you're referring to the underwear that is styled like a professional fighter's silk shorts (though generally not that loose or long). |
