Second, what's is wrong with the sign in the picture? It's supposed to be funny but I don't get it...

Well, the problem with that sign is that it's just not all that funny unless it was in some sort of context that adds to the meaning. The misspelling--"patient" instead of "patience"--is the joke. If this sign were on a doctor's office door, it might be more humorous than if it were on, say, a hotel room door or a classroom door. It's possible that the poster of the photo was stretching to link the lack of spelling prowess that has resulted from too much online shorthand with the misspelled word in the sign.
I'll just go with "not funny".
