Are the following sentences grammatically correct. Do they sound fine in English? Thank you in advance. 1."A rectangular area on the monitor that displays a file or a part of a file is called window." 2."Database management is the quick search of a needed collection of information and data retrieval." 3."An icon is a small picture on the monitor representing an object that can be manipulated." |

Grammatically correct, yes. Conceptually correct? I would argue no.
Database management in the broadest sense involves more than scanning a collection of data and pulling relevant or desired information. Database management entails the creation of the database, adding and manipulating fields and tables for appropriate linking, as well as data entry of the relevant data including the creation of a user interface.
And an icon does not always represent an object to be manipulated (which as I interpret the sentence would be a link to a file). An icon can also be a shortcut to a program. |
