I first heard about gmail when it first came out. I was told if you wanted to get an account you would have to be invited by someone who already has one. Can you tell me more about this? I'm not sure I have the facts right on this and I'm confused. Many thanks, C.L.

You no longer need an invitation to obtain a gmail account. Just go to gmail.com and click on the "Sign up for Gmail" link near the bottom right corner.
