    In the state of California how do you figure out how many teachers to have what is the formula?

    Kindergarten 64 students
    First Grade 79 students
    Second Grade 85 students
    Third Grade 65 students
    Fourth Grade 68 students
    Fifth Grade 69 students
    Sixth Grade 71 students

    how many classes would there be per grade?

Kindergarten- don't know how they handle am and pm vs all day


Grades 1,2 and 3 have a state mandated 20 to 1 ratio.
Other elementary grades no mandated ratio usually 35.

Districts do not like to hire more teachers until they see the kids. Late arrivals minus no shows. A school budget typically has 85% of budget in salaries of all staff. So over-hiring is a bad practice/
A school principal does not have the sole authority on staffing. Final word is up to the district.
