| Normal light bulb or a halogen light bulb? |

Dear all,
I have recently purchased a ceiling fan with a lighting fixture at the bottom part. According to the user manual, only a 100 watt type A light bulb should be used. However, you can imagine that it is insufficient for a room with size over 150 square feet. Now my question is can I used a 100 watt halogen light bulb instead?
Thank you.
Cheers,

100 watts should be 100 watts, regardless of the bulb type. You should keep a close eye on the fixture, however, and if it seems to be getting excessively hot, discontinue use of the other bulb.
Watt for watt, you will get more light out of a compact fluorescent bulb. If you can find one with a relatively high wattage rating (check at Home Depot) that will fit in this light fixture, you will probably get a brighter light. However, such bulbs CANNOT be used with an incandescent dimmer. If your fan includes a dimming function, you should not use it with a compact fluorescent bulb unless you are confident you can bypass the dimmer somehow. |
