fan for bathroom mickeyrory 03/29/06
I need to install a vent for a bathroom fan. The bathroom is in the basement. I have venting for my furnace that runs directly above my planned new bath. Can I tap into this pipe and use it to vent the moisture out of my bathroom?

Hello,

The building code will not allow you to vent you bathroom exhaust fan into your furnace vent pipe.

The bathroom exhaust fan must be vented to the outside as to release the moisture and odors safely to the outside.

Building inspectors will be checking as the work progresses on your project and they will make you change this type of venting hookup.

I wish you well.
