Hi folks, sure hope someone can help!
Wanting to change the light buld in an old ceiling fixture the glass part broke off from the "screw thread contact", which is now stuck & I cant remove.
I rent, cant change light fixture.
tried using pliers to unscrew the threaded part left in the ceiling fixture. nothing doing. even tried just pulling down on it. wont budge.
PLEASE! does anyone have a suggestion about how to remove this recalcitrant, this rebellious threaded part of the buld left in the ceiling fixture??
looking forward to your suggestions/solutions!!!

Hi, If possible, BE SURE the electrical circuit breaker to the light bulb is OFF. It's much better that just being sure the light switch itself is turned off. Then, spray some WD40, not too much to cause dripping. Spray it on the broken part, trying to spray into the threads. Then, wait a few minutes, like maybe 10 min. Take a screwdriver, prying open the broken light bulb part, away from the light fixture threads, if possible. Then, try the pliers again, twisting in the direction that will unscrew the broken part. Needle-nose pliers work better. Usually, you can use a potato cut in half, then shaped to fit into the broken light bulb part, then turn the potato to unscrew it. But, it seems it's too tight for that now. Best of luck, fredg |
