What's the maximum power I can safely draw out of a 110V wall outlet socket?

In the US, most domestic outlets are controlled by either a 10-amp or 15-amp circuit breaker. If you have an appliance that draws 3000 watts or more, you want to be sure that you're either not using an extension cord or using an outlet and cord rated for the high power draw. Special outlets for electric ranges, driers, or air conditioners may be rated for 30 amps. |
