VOTING powderpuff 07/14/04
    Hello,

Most people I talk to have told me they are not going to be voting in the Presidential election. However all have an opinion, they either want Bush re-elected or want Kerry as President, some say they don't care.

How can I encourage those who want Bush or Kerry, or any other for that matter, to VOTE?

I am surprised that almost everyone I ask: are you going to vote say NO!

there are a couple of ways to interpret this .

1 .as darkstar mentioned ;people are satisfied with the status quo. it is not unfair to assume that .

2. people have weighed in and decided that none of the alternatives are appealing . perhaps a :none of the above option would amend that problem.

there are some who argue for mandatory voting .many'free' nations have that provision as law. I do not see that as a solution . in dictatorships there is usually a 100% voter turnout ,with almost all votes going to the existing regime . I do not get worked up by low voter turn out . I see a no- show as the electorate making a preference. The politicians notice it ,and the ones who would work for change become more active in recruiting them . Their voice ultimately gets heard.
