I'm actually in a rush, woman2003, but le me try to concisely answer your question :)
College only grant Bachelor's degrees, may they in Liberal Arts or Sciences (BA or BS). These programs usually are for 4-yr. durations, a little more if one is getting 2 degrees at the same time, pursuing a Minor to complement their Major degree, etc.
If a place happens to be called a Community College or Junior College, that generally means they only give 2-yr. degrees, mostly in Associates in Arts (AA), and graduates from there either start working or go onto to a 4-yr. college to gether their Bachelor's.
Universities on the other hand can offer aside from the Bachelor's degrees also graduate/postgraduate degree programs, helping those who already have Bachelor's degrees also earn their Master's (again either in Science - M.Sc. - or Arts - M.A. or even other specialized programs like the MBA or MFA - Fine Arts, etc.) and also their Doctorates (Ph.D.) in whatever further defined specializations a person may want or need.
Here' check out the YourDictionary.com definition of a university:
An institution for higher learning with teaching and research facilities constituting a graduate school and professional schools that award master's degrees and doctorates and an undergraduate division that awards bachelor's degrees.
Hope this has helped, woman2003! :-) |
