Canon has posted the following on their web site: "Canon digital cameras are designed to perform optimally when used with genuine Canon accessories. Canon shall not be liable for any damage to Canon digital cameras and/or accidents such as fire, etc, caused by the malfunction of non-genuine Canon accessories (e.g., leakage, and/or explosion of a battery pack)." Are there replacement NB-3L batteries that can be safely used in the SD110 camera? The cost difference is significant.

Hi, kafarnham, No, other batteries will not harm your camera. I also use other batteries in my Nikon CoolPix digital camera, cause of the great reduction in price. I also use Generic cartridges in my Epson Photo Stylus printer; and when I put in a new one, a window pops up saying "Are you sure you want to use this Cartridge?"....like it will explode if I use it !! Best wishes, fredg |
