    What is the difference between issued and outstanding stock, what is it called?

      Clarification/Follow-up by thread on 04/03/07 8:35 am:
      thank you.....but my choices are limited to: Authorized Stock
      Common Stock, Paid-in Capital in Excess of Par or Treasury Stock.

The correct answer would be Common Stock. It differs from Preferred Stock, which is generally held only by officers of the corporation and is released only sparingly to the public as it has the same debt weight during bankruptcy as a bond.
