Do you remember this old question? [What is it called when you] use a quotation to open an initial paragraph in a work (term paper, essay, etc)? I think the answer is epigraph. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epigraph_%28literature%29

Hello, Jim. The link to the wikipedia citation shows that the entry was removed because it was a "bad entry". I can't see what you read there. A brief search, however, turned up other citations which agree that the term you were seeking was, indeed, "epigraph". Good job!
