| Upper or Lower case----That is the question ! |

I have an lawyer friend who has his name on return envelopes as follows:
John S. Adams, esq.
I think the 'E' in esquire should be upper case (mainly because of consistency....the other names begin with upper case.)
Which is more correct? esq. or Esq. ??

Oddly enough, Headranger, the "esq" in lower case is correct. It is one of the few exceptions to the capitalization of titles rule.
Seems odd, doesn't it, that lawyers, who are so rigid about protocol, would be the only ones who break this particular rule. |
