Do people to think about suicide from time to time? I mean, don't get me wrong--im not pessimistic--I am a typical guy who's happy with good job and a wonderful family-- but with all the mess that's going on in the world and each person's own hardships, do people ever say things like: might as get it over with, it's going happen anyway"

But of course, we all have our reasons for living, such as family, our goals, our interests, social life, or just knowing we are all mortals.

Statistics say more teenage girls think about suicide, yet guys actually do it more, but with the way the world is, you know, global warming, armageddon, the big one, suicide is on the rise. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. To be fair, I have thought about it from time to time, but only for a split second and then I snap out of it and return to reality, when for example,I see a car accident and think what it must be like for those involved or what must be going on the driver's mine to maybe lead him to be in an accident

I am no professional but I truely think part of the issues deal with our lessing the value of life in general.

Once we don't beleive that life is of much value, we don't beleive in a reason for our life and the life of others. Then taking a life any life, including our own is not as important a issue as it should be.

And of course your own listing, family, goals, social life, interests as a reason for living, is part of the major problems, All of those, at least in our minds can be destroyed in a moments notice.

I have seen students at GA Tech, try to kill thier self dozens of times, over getting a failing grade, and once over getting a B.
Because they were always A students in highschool and a low grade would make family upset, hurt thier goals of getting a perfect college record, getting that best paying job and of course failing a course would mean that thier snobby friends would not want to socialise with them. While it may all be in thier minds, thier "reasons" for living were now all destroyed.

We have to look at it in a much bigger picture and know we are not "just" mortal, but also a spiritual creature.

That is the real problem we have lost site of why we are here on earth, and where real pleasure comes from.
