something that concerns me darkstar 08/12/04
in my area recently two crimes have been in the news.

the first one was in the paper last week about a man with a wife and 3 small children living in an upper class small town..... background ----> this man was also a working tax paying citizen. he also had a secret life. in a room in his home hidden from the public eye, he was growing around 300 marijuana plants when a family "friend" truned him in on a grudge between his wife and another woman. a few weeks later there was a knock at his door and when he opened it his home was raided.

it was reported in the paper a couple days ago he now faces up to 80 years in prison. and has had his family torn apart for the rest of their lives.

the other crime that was recently reported was of a man in an ajoining town bigger and more middle class than upper class. this man reportedly got mad at his girl friend and then murdered her and he is facing a possible sentence of 8 years to life if convicted.

my question is....am i the only one that wonders where is the justice in this? how can a man do something in the privacy of his own home and bother no one be sentenced to 80 years and one who has actually taken a life only be sentenced to 8? i just don't get it!, respectfully darkstar

Hello: I weep daily. My daughter was heavily assulted, and through the whole ordeal was left for the rest of her life in a wheel chair, paralyzed from the chest down. The perpetrator broke into her home, cut her throat and while on her back jumped on her face to break her neck, he was an ex-fiance' and father of her last 2 children, whom he left at his mother's home while he did the deed, but her then 5 yr. old little boy was in the home where he did this.
Well, by the grace of God she alive, but will not live or be alone for the rest of her life as she needs full time care. Even to go to the bathroom.
Well this man was caught and sentence to 25-30 yrs, and he done 12 1/2yrs. and just last week got released.
Our justice system is Sh**. All of our lives specially mine has been changed dramatically forever, and he is up walking around like all is to forgive and go on, plus she raised the boys without financial help from him, but he also got visitations while in the penetentary because the Law says, she had to all of his Constitutional rights, and if she would not let them go be patted down and searched and visit him, she would be in contempt and go to jail.
Life is to be one of our precious possessions and when one takes it, by the Courts it doesn't mean a thing.
We as society people need to focus no matter how many issues are at hand and get Congress to help prevent so many dastardly deeds, but they seem to guide us away from things with so much going on.
The only thing about illegal drugs in which I feel that man should have gotten what he did, is this drug goes through a breakdown and then it's multiplyed so much of the product made, reaches countless people and many of those individuals are underage, mentally deranged and going against the Law as well, so given the fact so many people are reachable with this already illegal substance plus the fact the many people who can be innocently harmed if one of these people or several of them who have taken the drug, hurts or kills is over-whelming.
Then too, many areas of location if illegal drugs is found within so many feet of an Instutional Educational System the time for the crime is doubled.
I am so glad at least they got him, this could have saved a many of a person and their children.
