something that concerns me darkstar 08/12/04
in my area recently two crimes have been in the news.

the first one was in the paper last week about a man with a wife and 3 small children living in an upper class small town..... background ----> this man was also a working tax paying citizen. he also had a secret life. in a room in his home hidden from the public eye, he was growing around 300 marijuana plants when a family "friend" truned him in on a grudge between his wife and another woman. a few weeks later there was a knock at his door and when he opened it his home was raided.

it was reported in the paper a couple days ago he now faces up to 80 years in prison. and has had his family torn apart for the rest of their lives.

the other crime that was recently reported was of a man in an ajoining town bigger and more middle class than upper class. this man reportedly got mad at his girl friend and then murdered her and he is facing a possible sentence of 8 years to life if convicted.

my question is....am i the only one that wonders where is the justice in this? how can a man do something in the privacy of his own home and bother no one be sentenced to 80 years and one who has actually taken a life only be sentenced to 8? i just don't get it!, respectfully darkstar

the sentence that a criminal or convicted person gets has never been fair, since they day they had two judges in the US instead of one.
Even in the same county or city people doing the exact crime gets differnt sentence or may even be found not guilty, depending on the judge they get.

Then add to it, that the same crime in diffenrt states have differnt sentences even on the written books.
And then let one person be a family man, with a good job, or perhaps a foot ball star, and we all know what happens.

Let it be a black man from the hood with no job and no family tie, and you may as well get him a life time bunk.
