I keep getting emails from spammers offering me to enter drawings for various prizes, mostly cars, and some consumer electronics. Do they really draw a name from the list of entries and award the prize or are the offers scams? Many thanks, C.L.

Of course who knows on each offer. Most are merely ways to get valid email names and addresses that are sold to other emailers. Or they use the sites to advertise many other products that they wish to sell. Some of course are legit, my wife won a new Gateway computer system a few years ago. ( of course we had to pay the gift tax on it, and report the winnings on our taxes) If at any point they want a credit card number or other confidential info, then you can almost bet it is not real. Others use it as a way to put spy ware in your computer to get lots of good info on people.
