Epals with prisoners. PLUTUS1947 06/19/03
    Hello fellow Experts.

I am seriously considering corresponding with an inmate on Death Row USA.

I believe there are over 100 in Texas alone.

Not ever having done this before I would be interested in hearing your opinions on this especially from anyone already doing this or indeed any inmates who may come to this site.

Just be very, very careful.
Inmates trade letters with each other, even train other inmates in how to "write" better letters to people so they can convince them to send in money or other goods.

Having read 100's of inmates letters from state and Federal prisons over the years, sadly most are con artists versions of the same letters re-written for the benifit of the reader.

While some truely like to correspond with others, I would say that 90 percent are merely con artist still trying to work the system after they are in..

Remember that they many times have people on the outside, who can work with info you send them, times of day you work, what you do for a living, all of your weekness, and more.

Never use your home address or full name, I don't even beleive in using you real name.
Never give out enough personal data to be used by them.
