| My whole desktop and all my programmes have altered |

I don't remember trying to alter anything, but my desktop and screen has icons and text which is much bigger...I want to reduce it by about 20%...I've tried going into View/Tools etc, but it doesn't work...any suggestions? I'm sure I didn't tell the pc to enlarge anything, but when I was recently shutting down there was a popping sound and it restarted with everything on the screen the new size. I've got Windows Vista Basic.
Thanks. |

I agree with Labman.
The symptoms you describe are consistent with the system having sensed something wrong with the monitor and it has set the screen resolution to a "safe" value.
If you right-click on the background, you should see a context menu that has "Properties" or "Settings". Somewhere in there is the setting for screen resolution and you should have the option to increase it to something like 1024x768, which I'm guessing is closer to what you had earlier. |
