Hello,
I just started going to the tanning bed in hopes of getting a little color before prom time. I did this last year as well (for the first time), and there are two things I have noticed.
1) My face doesn't seem to want to tan. The rest of my body (ESPECIALLY my stomach) tan so much quicker than my face. Why is this?
2) My face is getting really bad goggle lines. One of the ladies at the salon suggested my using an accelerator to help the lines go away but a) I don't see how that would work and b) I've heard the accelerator is even worse than just the bed itself. How can I get rid of nasty goggle lines?
Thanks for your time! |

Hello: It is important to know, one does not tan any better in a bed than in the normal sun. So if you don't see color to your face when you have been out in the normal sun, then more than likely this area will not tan well or if at all in a bed.
There are tanning beds that have facial screens, check to see if there is one within the establishment or in some other salon.
Try not to put the goggles on too tight, this is causing undue stress to your face, but you want the eyes to be fully protected. They do have special paper eye protection, which you slip on each eye, and does work succesfully when put on correctly, and this is of the upmost importance, eye protection. Otherwise you will have to rely on facial make up, and some find putting a cool moist wash cloth on the area afterwords helps the pressure areas.
Accelerators can be very expensive to buy, your salon should have freebe samples to use, they can be harsh if your skin texture is very fair, I would try on an area and see the results for yourself.
One last thing, spray on tans are becoming more popular, due to the fact your not under the UV lights, which many have claimed to cause the posible risk of skin cancer.
Plus many beds are not sanitized as well, so don't rely on the workers to do so, they should leave within the room the works to clean the bed yourself as well.
Hopefully, this has helped. Please let me know if there is anything further that I may assist you with. Respectfully, bal317 |
