Question Details Asked By Asked On
JOINT BANKRUPTCY Anonymous 03/16/03
    Hello Experts

This question is directed at the British (English) bankruptcy system.

I know that an individual can go privately bankrupt, but can a married couple go jointly privately bankrupt?

This question came up on my board, but I am not a British solicitor so I don't know how it works in Britain. In the American process, a married couple can file jointly for the same cost as if they had filed separately, but there is no "private" bankruptcy - all bankruptcies are public record. Sorry I can't help you with an answer that was more specific as to English law.
