big bang expansion? johnnyjohnjohn 05/12/04
hi, i'm interested in the way the universe expanded from an infinitely dense point. if we were to push all the galaxy clusters backwards in time and space,
would they meet in an infinitely small dot? or from different starting points from which time and space has expanded? (like an imaginary 3d grid)

Well, the short answer is that it all started from one "small" dot called a singularity of infinite density.

"Small" is in quotation marks because, according to one theory of the Big Bang, there was no "space/time" initially - therefore any reference to size doesn't apply.

That's a basic view - others here may give you more of the science.
