| Problems reading audio files with PowerPoint |

I've just created something using PowerPoint (I have imac OS 9.2) and I want to add music to it. I've recorded a track with SoundJam in a mp3 format. I've tried to insert this track into the program I created from PowerPoint but PowerPoint doesn't read the track. What should I do? What do I need to make my PowerPoint read MP3 audio files? Thank you in advance for the help. |

I do not use PowerPoint, but I have a copy of the version that came with Office 2001 for the Mac (I am on OS 8.6).
Just as an experiment, I opened PowerPoint and on the first slide page selected Insert / Movies and Sounds / Sound from File...
I was able to select several different MP3 files on my disk, including voiceover demo tracks that were generated with my sound editing software. When I selected a file, PowerPoint would ask if I wanted the file to play automatically. I said "yes." When I then viewed things in the Slide Show mode, the music played as it should.
I do not know how to associate the same sound file with multiple slides (i.e., a single file that begins playing at slide number 1 and continues uninterrupted as slides 2, 3 and 4 are shown). This reflects my lack of knowledge of PowerPoint. The only thing I tried was associating the file with a single slide.
But my experiment shows that this version of PowerPoint for the Mac is readily able to work with MP3 files. If you are using this version, I do not know why you are running into difficulty. |
