What are the rules regarding bringing a laptop computer with you when traveling by air? Can I have a laptop sealed in its original box checked in with my baggage? Or can I put a laptop in one of my suitcases with my clothes?
Many thanks,
C.L. |

I would highly recommend against putting a laptop in your suitcase PERIOD.
Think about it for a moment!
Do you think anyone might be opening your suitcase to "inspect" it (whether authorized or not)?
Do you think it would be difficult to simply tuck your laptop in a corner somewhere for later retrieval?
If you must take your laptop (and that is NOT a put-down because _I_ frequently travel with a laptop), take it as a "carry-on". Yes, you will have to take it out and, possibly, even turn it on to prove it is really a laptop and not a sophisticated bomb and, yes, it is a bit of a hassal but remember, you'll have much better control over whether you and the laptop end up in the same place and you'll have the added bonus of being able to either work or watch a DVD on your laptop if you want to. |
