Dogs
I can help you with your new dog. I am very confident that the training I have received as a volunteer for a dog guide school, my experience, and reading scientific studies allows me to give good answers. The school has followed thousands of dogs over their lifetime from their bloodlines to the end of their working life and into retirement. Every one of the hundreds of puppies they breed each year grows up under careful supervision and is X-rayed at a year old. Anything except sturdy, healthy, well socialized dogs are dropped from the program. You won't find some of what they have learned and taught me in any book. They want to give me the best information they can to use with the puppies they trust me with.
I believe in using positive methods as much as you can and the key to dogs' behavior is their pack instinct.
As an expert, I am not tied to the way it has always been done and still trying
to solve the problems of the 50's. My experience, training, and wide reading
combine to let me give answers that you can make work.
My wife and I are currently socilizing Kate, a female yellow Lab whelped 11 October 2002. She is our 13'th puppy since 1991.
She should go back for her formal training in late 03.
