Abuse

    There are many forms of abuse and I think I have witnessed quite a few. I have helped my niece overcome abuse and eventually her self abuse, have seen first hand the many different types of child abuse, spousal abuse and elderly abuse and the lack of compassion and understanding of many that have never experienced abuse. It takes a lot of courage to stand up to one's abuser and a lot more courage to stand alone. Sometimes complete strangers are the best sounding boards when trying to break the circle of abuse and pain. Hoping to help out in anyway I can.

      I have been living with systemic lupus eurythematosus since 1990 and have developed many other diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, irritable bowel syndrome, PMS, sjogren syndrome, chronic fatigue and a slew of others.       I;ve made resumes for site controllers, assistant site controllers, staff accountants, warehouse workers, managers, clearks and recently for a member of my group who found herself without a job one day. The latter received several offers due to the cover letter and the resume that I created for her within a couple of days and eventually ended up getting the one that she wanted.       I have always had children around me. Pre-teens, teenagers and young adults, though the groups of course coincides with the ages of my children and my nieces and nephews. I find it very easy to communicate with them and they have been able to discuss things with me that they aren't able to discuss with their parents. As my children get older it seems where ever we move to, there is always an abundance of kids that either hang around my front yard or sleep over. I am considered the Auntie of the neighborhood where they are able to speak and be heard as well as be guided, we barbecue and have activities and I think sometimes no matter how old you are, you always need to remember that once upon a time, you were once a teenager going through the same things that they are though a different way of life, but it helps to remember the anxieties of what it used to be like being a teenager which I think is forgotten by many adults these days. It does take a village to raise one child. It doesn't make me an expert but, it does allow the kids to know that there is an adult who will listen without beind judged. Be given advice without being forced to do them and respect them for regardless of their ages they do have feelings to.
