Atheism
A NON-BELIEVER
I was raised as a Catholic and indoctrinated up until the age of 18 when I rejected the religion. After that time I studied Christian Science, the faith of my husband; also, Mormonism(because it is an American religion), then, became a born-again Christian. Lastly, I joined a mainline Protestant Church.
In addition to much reading in the field of Christianity, I read in mythology and scholarly books, joined a Spiritual Group and was a "member" for two years.
I have read about eastern religions, Buddhism, primarily.
I have answered the question all must answer in order to die peacefully, "What is the meaning of Life?"
Today, I am a happy and staunch non-believer.
I believe in:
Optimism rather than pessimism; Hope in place of despair; Learning in the place of dogma; Joy not sin and guilt; Compassion in place of selfishness; Laughter over rigidity; Lifetime learning and education;
AND, Reason over blind faith or irrationality.

Baseball
Baseball is the best professional game to attend because not only are there the intricacies of the game to take in and discuss, and there is lots of fun in the stands.
As a teenager, my father, who was the President of our local Little League, appointed me scorekeeper, so I sat behind the fence next to the announcer, up on a platform making decisions on what was a hit or error, and kept a complete record of the game.
Enjoying baseball, one kind of paradise. |

Dogs
I am an expert in Dog Training and Behavior because when I was young, my best friend and I took classes in dog training(obedience); we trained our family pets, my dog, an Irish Setter, and hers, a Norwegian Elkhound.
Then, I participated in local Dog Shows in both confirmation and obedience trials with Rusty.
In addition, I have read and studied the writings of Nicholas Dodson, a prominent Doctor of Veterinary Medicine specializing in cat and animal behavior.
Sharing loving feelings with animals. One kind of paradise. |

Emotional Wellbeing
Because I suffered from major mental illness since age 6, beginning in childhood as major depression, I had to work very hard at making as good a life as possible for myself including interesting relationships, activities, hobbies, fun jobs and a couple of "careers".
I studied psychology throughout my life having majored in it in college and continued my education periodically through reading and seeing various mental health professionals.
I know what it is to suffer, and I know how go make the best life possible with what one is given. That is the secret of having as happy a live as possible.
Will be glad to help with suggestions if you are struggling. |

Etiquette & Manners
My mother taught me how to have good manners and proper etiquette; she was from a good family, a member of the DAR, an educated woman who knew how to deal with people properly.
In addition, I was in a sorority when I attended Northwestern University; sorority girls were taught and expected to have fine etiquette and be charming in social situations. |
