Question/Answer
AhmadBalkhi asked on 01/01/04 - Is my resume done correctly?

Hi Experts!
I have just completed my courses to obtain my bachelor of science in mathematics. I have not yet recieved my WPE results (writting exam required to get my diplom) and CBEST (writting, reading and math exam that enables me to teach in california high schools). However, I like to apply for teaching now since I may not have my exam results and diplom before march or april 2004. In the following, I pasted my resume. This is my first resume for a major job. Can you please check its format and contents. I am open to suggestions. Anything that you like to add or comment would be appreciated. Infact, the reason I posed my resume here is to get more comments and ideas.
One more thing. The resume I posted bellow is not in the format I have it in word. I worked in resume format in MS work, and when I pasted here, the arangement went off. So the format is alittle different but the contents are the same.
Sincerely
Ahmad Balkhi

Generally, looks good. A few suggestions:

1) CSULB may be well known in your general vicinity. I don't know what it is, and as a general rule for items ilike that it is best to write it out with an abbreviation in brackets afterward.

2) For each school that you attended (Colleges and higher), it is best to put an indication as to the program that you were taking and your major(s). if the major that you indicated at the end of the education section applies to all three, that is fine, but if not, it qwould be good top indiacte the major to allow the reader to get a fuller view as to your qualifications.

3) I would suggest indicating in general terms what institution/approach you are using to complete your credentials.

4) For each position which involved math, I would recommend that you consider what might differentiate you from other persons. For instance were there specical challenges that you had to deal with, or were there achievements or learning opportunities in these positions which enhance the value that you bring to the position for which you are applying. A good example is your comment under special skills.

Language skills in many areas of the country is a definite plus.
