Question/Answer
Anonymous asked on 04/06/09 - shingle vaccine

If i have had shingles and taking, acyclovir so that they do not come back can i get the vaccine,Zostavax?

bal317 answered on 04/08/09:

I would speak to your Doctor. Mainly because Zostavax claim of being used for the prevention of shingles has had some questioning about the severe reactions seen after one has taken this medication. Yes, it has been FDA approved. But the serious reverese reactions are documented.
Only your physician can direct you in this and for you to be completely medically safe.

Anonymous asked on 11/29/04 - Woman Worried

Please, I need an answer. He didn't use condom and used that "intrrupted" method(I know we shouldn't!!!). At least four times. I took the next day pill. The problem was that I take thirteen and a half hours between one and another, and I'm really afraid. If I go to my doctor, he can surely see if I'm pregnant before my period comes, just to wait for it more tranquil?
Thank you

bal317 answered on 12/01/04:

Hello: Remember yourself first. We all have independent lives that connect to someone we love and who could not do without us, safe sex is to be a habbit not a maybe or not, it's your life.
There was a message on local tv programs that are trying so hard to discourage young people from having sex because of the HIV epidemic, saying many who hold this grave medical condition so often looks just as good as if they were primo/good but they are as poison as a snake that instantly kills.
Even if one wears a condom and say has HIV, one has to know how to remove the condom so the innocent partner does not contact this viral disease or any diseases from the body fluids left behind, so great caution and education in how to hold yourself back until you absolutely know that person, and how to protect yourself completely is understood, you pose a danger to yourself.
I would make that physician's appointment ASAP, I would rather let the professional know what's going on than to wait until things have gone way too far, and get phamlet's on what sexual techniques of safety should be used.

Question/Answer
Anonymous asked on 11/17/04 - Epilepsy and Pregnancy

Hello i was sent to a so called specialised by my new family doctor that said would know more about the medication and effects of pregnancy. They did not give me anything positive. My epilepsy specialist is starting to take me off the one medication for being prepared to have a baby and on 5 mg of folic acid. I have heard over 90 percent of women with epilepsy have healthy babies. The other specialist said they do not know much and that i should go to the hospital. They said that if i am not pregnant right now its good. If i am right now and there i problems then i have the option to abort. I do not even know if i am pregnant and they are giving me doom and gloom predictions even though my epilepsy doctor of 12 years does not see a problem of me starting a family. I am very healthy. I do not believe i am high risk pregnancy but the so called specialist does not want to take me in her care. What can i do?

bal317 answered on 11/19/04:

Hello: Congrats!!!! if you are, and also Congrats!!! that you seem to be in mental control of your situation and facing things with a positive attitude by listening to someone that has been in your corner for medical decisions for a length of time.
As you see all doctor's are not alike, and some so often will take the "easy" way out, putting in their own fears not being guided by what medical logic they know, but more personal. This can not always be helped because they are only human and what we have learned somewhere in our lives often affect how we react in our profession.
I would go to my long time physician and explain to him/her that your having great difficulty with finding someone that is as convience'ing as his/her's diagnosis and capability of you carrying out your pregnancy, and if at all possible would this wonderful physician help you find someone that will also be more help than frighten you or tell you what you feel is misleading information that can cost you a chance at giving birth, or someone that your current physician can speak to that both professionals can come to a reading of the mind with accurate facts, so you can prepare yourself with their sound advice.
But you need someone in your corner that has the medical knowledge who can speak with the same education to the other professional for you, and you can rest assure they will work in your very best behalf. Which will allow you less stress and positive steps.
Hopefully, this help. Please let me know if there is anything further that I may assist you with. Again much success and let me know how you come out.

Anonymous asked on 03/28/04 - the iron pump at home work out machine

hi

I was look at telebrands.com on tv and they had this new upper body pump called the iron pump for males and females. Because of my heavy weight, I have a lot of weight on my back meaning I have tire and bulges on my back. I canít seem to find it on their website but they had advertise it on tv. You lie front on the floor and then move your arms by pumping the machine from the side. This will reduce your fat from the back and upper arms.

Has anyone used this product? I wanted to know before I buy it as my mom says that machines on tv really donít do what they promise.

bal317 answered on 03/31/04:

Hello: I have not used these types of machines within my home. I would suggest you use the gyms or Y's equipment first, by trying out what you feel will help you and see if you really like the equipment before you invest and have it staying around without use.
I have found a few sites that explain other ulternatives to helping rid ones body of excess weight gain in the back area.
Also, the last site, does show equipment that can help.

Question/Answer
Anonymous asked on 02/09/04 - does this work it says lose 10 pounds a month

Trim 24Seven - weight loss patches

Can people with hypertension use this? wow lose 10 pounds a month.

Place one Trim 24Seven Patch anywhere on your body. After 24 hours remove and replace with a new patch in a slightly different area to allow your skin to breathe.
The course should be completed and most people find that three months use is sufficient.
Recommended as part of a calorie controlled and exercise regulated programme.

Ingredients :

Fucus Vesiculosus - A natural sea plant extract that has been used for hundreds of years by traditional healers worldwide to aide varying ailments. More recently it has been used by both herbalists and conventional practitioners to help in weight control.

Guaranine - An extract of the Guarana plant, which was original used by Amazonian Indians as a stimulant and a treatment for stress.

5-HTP - During dieting, serum tryptophan levels and CNS serotonin levels drop dramatically. These low serotonin levels in obese patients have been associated with carbohydrate cravings and resultant binge eating. 5-HTP can help prevent this dieting-associated decline in serotonin, thus enhancing weight loss. Three clinical trials in obese patients have demonstrated decreased food intake and subsequent weight loss with 5-HTP supplementation.

Zinc Pyruvate - Technically, pyruvate is really a combination of highly unstable pyruvic acid and other substances like calcium, sodium or potassium, added to stabilize pyruvic acid. This new compound is used to enhance fat burning, boost endurance, increase lean muscle mass, decrease blood glucose and lower blood cholesterol.

DHEA - Dr. Terrence T. Yen was studying the effect of DHEA on genetically obese mice. Although the DHEA-treated mice ate normally, they remained thin ó and they lived longer than control mice. This ďleannessĒ effect was also conspicuously noted by Dr. Schwartz. In another experiment, Dr. M. P. Cleary found that even middle-aged obese rats lost weight when fed DHEA-supplemented food. Diabetes, a typical complication of obesity, was also dramatically decreased.

Yerba Mate - is an evergreen member of the holly family, it grows wild in Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Brazil, but is most abundant in Paraguay, where it is cultivated. In 1964 one group of investigators from the Pasteur Institute and the Paris Scientific Society concluded that Yerba Mate contains nearly all of the vitamins necessary to sustain life.
Yerba Mate is often used as a staple food, sometimes substituting for such important foods as bread and vegetables. It easily eliminates the sensation of hunger and can impart as much invigoration as a full meal, according to the well-known Chilean herbalists J. Zin and R. Weiss.

Flaxseed Oil - Despite all the concern about fat in our diet, the body does require fat to function. The problem is that most people are getting the wrong kinds of fats in their diet and are lacking the so-called ďgoodĒ fats in their diets. The human body cannot function properly without two polyunsaturated fats - linoleic and alpha-linolenic acid. These fatty acids, which are found in Flaxseed Oil are essential to normal cell structure and body function.

Lecithin - Contains Choline & Inositol which are essential for the breakdown of fats and cholesterol. It helps prevent arterial congestion and distribute bodyweight, increase immunity to virus infections, cleans the liver and purifies the kidneys

L-Carnitine - Facilitates the burning of fat for energy by making it possible for the long chain fatty acids it transports to enter the cell . If the fatty acids cannot reach the mitochondria where they are transformed to cellular energy, it stands to reason they are going to be deposited in places where the body will suffer from their presence, as happens in fatty liver disease, fatty build-up in the heart, and obesity, where fatty build-up occurs in the muscles

Zinc Citrate - Zinc is required for many functions in the body, including growth, taste and smell, nucleic acid synthesis, keratin metabolism, sexual development and function in both genders, bone and joint metabolism, wound healing, brain development, nerve function and behavior, and lipid and carbohydrate metabolism

Ingredients are approved cosmetic ingredients and confirm with the Sixth Amendment to the Council Directive of Rules governing cosmetic products in the EU.

The product is natural. It is not a medicine, rather a carefully formulated natural remedy. Please read the instructions before starting the course. In the unlikely event you experience any side effects or adhesive allergies, cease use and seek medical attention. Pregnant and lactating women, persons with any thyroid problems or anyone taking medical attention should consult their doctor before use.

bal317 answered on 02/11/04:

Hello: Dieting to loose weight is always a frustrating and very hard situation, because we become over-whelmed when we look at the figure number of pounds we want to shed. But somehow we never look at reaching that goal in smaller amounts that will equal the same weight loss.
Diet Patches have a warning from the Government, at the below site, once there please scroll down to Diet Patches and read.

www.nbc10.com/health/2207693/detail.html

Also, I am no physician, and seeing how you are aware of hypertention problems, a physician must have diagnosis'd the medical problem for you. I would contact my physician and share this information with him/her, playing with hypertention is not good for anyone, and taking a form of a drug that will be introduced into your body that could cause you any medical change is a serious event.
Then while speaking with your physician, ask for a referal to speak with a Dietitian. This person will know your weight you are at now, and the weight that you should be at per your physicians advice by the way your body frame is. Keeping you eating regular foods, but watching your caloric intake daily is the very best way to loose unwanted weight.
Also I would recommend reading the new book by Dr. Phil, which you can get the information from his web site.

www.drphil.com

I suggest thinking to yourself, this is an example, I want to loose 50 pounds, so give yourself a 6 month plan, this way not only will you relearn how to eat in the right quantity, but you also will adjust to how you need to eat, and maintaining that weight by reaching your goal will be a win win situation. But 50 pounds to loose in 6 months, would mean a person would only have to loose, 50 divided by 6= 8.3 pounds per month, or 8.3 pounds in one month means loosing 2.1 pound per week. So loosing 2.1 pound per week approx. will get you to a 50 pound loss in 6 weeks.

Now naturally one looses much more the first week or so, but that is due to body change and more awareness, however, the more at first the better we feel, but knowing all one has to loose is the smallest number, evens out when our bodies don't show the numbers on the scale because we can loose inches by toning during our diets, and this won't show up on the scale but on our body.
Plus many physician's will allow you to use their scales for weigh in weekly at no extra charge, and this will help you and your physician know how well you are coping.
Plus, you will be given weight loss equipment, exercise program that is best for you, and introduce you into just plain walking extra will help.

I would strongly advise the above, don't take until you have cleared it with your physician, all because of the health warnings that have been given, and so you won't place yourself in unnecessary health risk.

Please let me know if there is anything further that I may assist you with. How you are coming out.

sallie00 asked on 01/20/04 - Proper Chairs for sitting at computers

I sit at the computer for long hours. In your opinion, are padded folding chairs good or bad for the back for long hours?

Do the cloth office chairs with arms make much difference for your back?

bal317 answered on 01/21/04:

Hello: I would not like to set at a padded folding chair for long hours on the computer, mainly because you have no place to rest your forearms, you have very little options to readjust your buttocks, hips, legs and no support in the lower back area called the lumbar. Which makes the posture eventually slump hurting the shoulders and getting tired fast, when you get up your stiff. Repeating performance in this would cause one physical pain, to a point pain is felt long after the job.
My hubby works for one of the leading companies in office furniture, so since I have been with him, I have a wonderful high back, cloth covered, adjustable in height, arm rest, chair. This allows me to change positions, rest my arms, adjust the height for better viewing, protects my back, my legs don't go to sleep, it is very comfortable.
So, I would suggest getting out of the folding chair.
Please view this site and click onto the black high back chair and read the description.

www.vikingop.com

Hopefully, this will help, there are also hand padded rest that can be placed under your palms to help take some of the stress off of your hands as you type. Many watch out for carpletunnel syndrome, in which the hands start to become numb off and on, tingle feelings and eventually much discomfort, if they don't protect the way they use the hands specially when they use their hands for their living.

Question/Answer
Anonymous asked on 01/05/04 - Depo shot and sexual side effects

Since beginning the shot approx. 6 mos. ago, my wife (and by natural consequence I) have noticed a MARKED decrease in her sexual drive and desire. Our sexual frequency has dropped to an alarming low. How low, you ask? How about an average of once monthly. Now, I'm 35 and she's 32, so I know that it's too infrequent for our ages. I also know that we've got the kids, the youngest of whom is 20 months, but before she started the shot, we were still more frequent than we have been lately.

If this were just bothering me, I probably wouldn't be bothering you, but it's concerning her as well. She wants to want sex more, but just can't seem to work up much of a desire.

What can we do? She says she saw an advertisement for some drug that's supposed to increase the female sex drive, but she doesn't recall what it is, only that it might start with an A. Yeah, I know, big help. Do you know what that is, or do you have any other ideas? We've talked about her going off of the shot and going back to condoms, but I absolutley despise them, and they often kill my drive or cause other problems, such as inability to, uh, "finish" the job due to lack of sensation, and I've tried virtually every brand. She doesn't want the pill or the patch, because she's still a moderate smoker and is afraid of the possible side effects (never mind the side effects of smoking. I quit nagging her about that a long time ago, as it just wasn't worth the fights. She's cut down considerably, though.)

I will get a vasectomy one day, but we're still deciding whether or not we're really, really done having kids, and don't want to do anything permanent yet.

Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated by both of us.

Anonymous asked on 12/25/03 - Anyone ever hear of this....

I had a child about 7 years ago- a vaaginal birth. After the delivery ,in which they had to use a vacuum on the childs head, it felt like a muscle had fallen in my vaginal area. The muscle that is between the vagina and rectum. The doctor cleared me saying everything was fine, but now after making love or during my period the area aches. I have a doctors appointment in two weeks but I want some ammo and want to know if anyone knows what it could be or if, in fact, it could be a problem. Thanks

bal317 answered on 12/27/03:

Hello: Congrats!!! on your new arrival.
Sorry to hear of your recent problems, which can be very concerning, specially when we want an answer and seemingly not getting what we want. Don't forget, you can get 2nd, and so on opinions professionally, because what you are going through has to have a proper finding, which is what you need.
Also, you can ask for your entire medical records from any physician, so the ones you might have to go to will be able to follow steps that have been taken, along with any medical testings or procedures already done.
I wonder about, the possible vaginal looseness or pelvic prolaspe, just a possibility, not a diagnosis from me, because I am no medical physician.
However, I have found some sites for you to view, and in the first one please scroll down and read about the above, and click on any highlighted wording to further your information, but also clue your professional in on anything you might try, in order to clear that that is the best for you to do, and go immediately to a hospital ER if you experience any sever pain, or discharge ASAP.

Question/Answer
Jenisi asked on 12/15/03 - Post- depo shot problem

I was due for my last depo shot October 3 of this year but I decided not to have it done for multiple reasons. During the 3 months I was on the shot, however, I had a regular period and I had my period right on schedule in October. It ran from the 12th to around the 19th, nothing abnormal in flow, symptoms, etc. I haven't had a period since.

In November, I'd been feeling as I had during the first months of my prior pregnancies, so I took an at-home pregnancy test. Actually, I took several. (By this time, I'd kind of wanted to be pregnant) On one of these tests, a very faint line showed on the test stick saying that I could be pregnant. Later tests have come up negative. I went to the Health Dept. two weeks ago and there was tested, given a negative result, but told that I could still be pregnant and the hormones might not be enough to show yet. (I was told to come back in a couple of weeks for another test if my period hadn't arrived by then.)

I know that it's common not to have a period for some amount of time after one's gone off the shot, but it's also the majority of women who don't have a period at all while they're on the shot. I don't understand why, though, I'd have a regular period before the shot, while I was on the shot, and right after the missed shot, but now my body's going haywire. What are the possible reasons for this? (I'm dying for answers!)

Thanks

Hello: In what I have read Depo-Provera shots can cause certain problems. And one must be well informed without doubt when they stumble across a situation that they know is not what or how their body normally functions while taking this birth-control provention drug.
I would strongly suggest you to revisit your physician and fully explain your problem, and that you question why your body is not functioning as you know it should be. Then if you have one, communicate with a GYN, and pull all the information together to get the actual facts about what is going on.

I also have found a wonderful site for you to view, where other's give their stories of using this method of birth-control, and allow you to voice your situation as well with feed back results, but in no way is this the answer you should take for fact, just information and what you may bring to the table when approaching your actual medical professionals for the final results.
In some of my reading I have found where a lady had her liver values checked while using such a drug and it was a good thing, because the value was elevated enough that show'd the medication was not to her best in using. So please read the information, but always follow through on what your medical providers suggest, and don't stop until you get the proper help with results.

Question/Answer
Anonymous asked on 11/30/03 - milk

How important is milk for bones?

My mother will be 60 and she has lost 2 inches from her height. My mother in law has aching bones especially in winter. My mother never liked the smell of milk and as a child growing up we were never forced to drink milk. Now in my 30s I am having the same symptoms like my mom of aching bones, brittle and fragile bones which my mom attributes to low calcium level. I donít like taking calcium tablets as they taste chalky and are too big to swallow. Though I like the taste of milk, I just never had it because no one told me to drink it when I was younger. Though my dad loves milk and he has good teeth and good bones. Though his bones hurt but not as much as my mom;s does. I donít like yogurt or cheese.

How much milk should I take at my age so I also do not become like my mom and what is the best remedy for my mom for her aching bones and fragile bones. Or is it already too late for me.

Thanks

bal317 answered on 12/02/03:

Hello: People specially women can have a tendancy to shrink in height when they age, and some of the reason's can include, poor posture through life, poor nutritional intake during their growing stages and later on through out their earlier years to current, poor shoes and lack of exercises.
Your Mother possibly does have a deficet in calcium lower levels, however your Mother-In- Law could be suffering from a form of arthritis(which can cause the joints to ache and swell).
I would first strongly suggest you make an appointment with your medical provider and seek this professional to do some lab testing which can determine your actual calcium measurment levels, then he/she can also arrange for you to have a bone density test, which can view the whole body and draw the proper conclusion of what if any body mass or lack of calcium your body has been deprived from. Following the physician's advise with knowledge of what your body is going through right now, will be your only true success. But, finding out information in which you can print out and speak over with your provider can benefit your knowledge and increase your awareness better.
Calcium, is an element that occurs naturally. Not only found in dairy products, but also in, broccoli, kale and other dark green vegetables and salmon along with sardines that have bones.
Calcium is essential for healthy teeth, bontes and plays a role in muscle contraction, blood clotting and nerve functions. Reduces the risk of osteoporosis. When the body doesn't get enough calcium, it takes from your bones and tends to weaken them. Scientist found even the most postmenopausal women can benefit from calcium intake. This can also effect men, and children.
I have found the following web sites for you to view, please not only read the front page info, but look along the left side and any highlighted wording, by clicking on the wording you will gain further information.
Please view:

www.caltrate.com

www.vrg.org/nutrition/calcium.htm

Again, please don't attempt to change your intake, thinking that you have covered all your bases without your professional medical physician's advise, you don't want to look over such an important fact.
Hopefully, this helps. If there is anything further that I may assist you with, please let me know.

Question/Answer
Cindy71 asked on 11/11/03 - Sinus Surgery caused me to get worse

Prior to my sinus surgery, I got sinus headaches monthly. Now since my surgery, I get migrains, ear aches, my face turns blochy and two times now, I had a hard time breathing. The calprit? Perfume, fabric softener. Regardless if I like the scent or not or even if I can spell it, I instantly get a headache which leads to any of the above stated conditions.

There is a lady at work (she has an office) whose perfume I'm allergic to. About a year ago, I politely asked her if she can close her door because I was getting an allergic reaction from her perfume. She said sure and that she was sorry. Later that day, my boss called me into her office and said I didn't have a right to tell someone not to wear perfume (which I didn't). I've been on all kinds of meds for allergies, but they don't seem to help. I know have to take migraine pills almost daily and by the weekend, I am fighting a sinus infection. I've purchased an Ionic Breeze from Sharper Image and it helps alot, but on bad days, it's useless because the chemicals from the perfume have to pass me in order to go thru my purifier. The second she comes in (even if I didn't see her), my head begins to ache. The more sensitive I get, the closer I get to the ionic breeze (literally 5 inches from my face - on bad days).

Do any of you have any suggestions asa to what I can take and how I can approach the situation at work. I do have an appointment with HR this afternoon to talk about the problem.

By the way, this same lady wears the same perfume I'm allergic to daily and the second she closes her door to meet with someone, my head gets better. And it's not all perfume, it's just certain ones.

Downey just came out with a "new and improved" fabric softener and it is very pontent. If someone used it, even if it was weeks ago, I react to it. There are days, I can't even go inside my backyard because one of my neighbors are running their dryer.

I don't think it should be wrong to be able to ask someone to close their office door if I get an allergic reaction to the perfume they wear.

I've looked up perfume allergies on the internet and have found a condition called Multiple Chemical Sensitivity. I haven't been diagnosed with it (and I am not allergic to must things that are listed). My doctor just keeps perscribing me allergy and migrane pills. Any suggestions?

By the way, I spoke to her boss and he said he walked in her office and her perfume was not overbearingly strong - therefore, he didn't think I should have a problem. I believe I became more sensitive after the sugery because I've never had this problem before.

My mom thinks I shouldn't complain because my job may fire me instead of trying to ask her to close her door.

bal317 answered on 11/11/03:

Hello: You are in a bind. So, you have choices to make. First I would go to my physician and have him/her run testing on what allergies you have and how it effects you in the workplace. There could be a possibility that you are the "odd man out". I am not saying this to be cruel, but you are the one with the problem out of the many that you are working with. No, this is not fair, but you can't control other peoples actions of what to wear, and as long as they are adhereing to the Companies guidelines there is unfortunately nothing an individual employee can do.
So, your best bet would be to find out all about your health issues and see if you are one of those who can be placed on some sort of disability due to your allergies to what others wear, seeing how it is effecting your health and you unfortunately have no control.
Then also, there might be some sort of medication that can help you control your health issues but until that comes along you might get ready to file the important paperwork that will give you some sort of financial assistance and also work with the Community programs in your town to see if you can qualify for anyother assistance, like for rent/home pymt., utilitites and medical bills.
Allergies is not fun, and it can seperate one that physically looks very healthy from the jobs and people they so enjoy, but we have to do what is always the very best for us.
I am truely sorry for your situation.
Hopefully, this helps. Physician's are aware of many avenues to search out to help one stay in the mainstream of life, but it might take time and you need to keep your head above water financially to servive.

Anonymous asked on 10/28/03 - keeping fasts

Hi,

I wanted to know why: Yesterday I kept my fast for the first time as it was our first day. I wanted to know why I was sleeply all day long and slept from noon till 5pm and then when I opened my fast, I was again sleeply and just slept after eating.

What happened and how long will it last?

Thank you

bal317 answered on 10/29/03:

Hello: Not knowing your health history, such as your blood sugar levels, these levels get nurishmonts for our bodies to function, and when we stop the proper nutritional value to keep these sugars up, our bodies get tired and need the rest to keep up the full function. Many people that go on a fast, make sure they have the proper vitamins that take over for the food we don't ingest, this is our energy level that we need to get going. When you broke your fast and consumed the food, your body needed the rest to catch up with the energy, because the food was put in your body like coal in a stove, and the stove has to take time to heat up, well so does your body.
I would recommend letting your physician aware of this, and see if you are low in your blood levels and if you should be on some sort of vitamin supplements to keep your energy level up so you can maintain a full daily life with strength to accomplish your day.
Hopefully, this helps. I feel if this was not your norm of feeling drained then naturally once you get the correct amount of food into the system of your body you should bounce back, but a 1 day fast should not have bottomed you out so drastically, so checking with your Doctor should be given a thought.

Question/Answer
Anonymous asked on 10/20/03 - problem when mb

Hi,
I'm asking this in regards to a friend. I'm really worried, and I'm trying to help her out. The other day she masturbated and a little while after she started bleeding. What could this be? Is it anything serious? She can't go to a physician because she's afraid her parents will find out that she masturbates. I looked some info. up on the internet but nothing was very helpful but could Von Willebrandís disease be a possiblity? Please if you could help me I'd really appreciate it. Thank you so much.

bal317 answered on 10/22/03:

Hello: Your friend might have gotten too rough with herself and being in a very tender area which needs lubrication when being touched in such a manner, could be her problem.
However, the disease you are speaking of, is an inherated bleeding disorder, and can only be determined through professional medical testing, in which she will have to go to a physician.
I would speak to your friend, she should be convienced to speak to her parent/s, if she is like many girls it will be her Mother. Parents are grown up chldren, but with maturity, however, we all have been kids before we were adults. And we love our children with our very own lives, and would do anything and everything for them, no questions asked, as long as we know the specifics and can be a part in making major decisions all for their better health and safety.
I would suggest she ask her Mother, questions in the affect, Mom, I was bleeding because I touched myself in my private area too roughly and I started bleeding, this is to let her Mother know that she experienced a problem and can make the decision from a parental view as to what should be done next, such as Doctors appointment or just to watch and see if her daughter is careful when touching herself and won't be too rough with her sensitive areas. Some times young ladies wear pants too tight in the crouch area and the friction to sensitive areas causes one to chaff or slightly bleed.
If she is not experiencing bleeding when she bumps herself, or bloody nose, or if she happens to get a paper cut any of the above showing a unusual amount of blood discharge is a cause for concern.
However, the upmost concern is for your friend and as tho she does not want to include her parent/s in what is going on, she can indicate there is a slight problem and it stemmed from her touching herself in the private area which caused her to bleed, she does not have to give exact facts to her parent/s, but the physician will see here in private with his/her Nurse and what the patient/client tells the physician is kept confidential unless it means through exam that a more serious condition is occuring and the parent should be involved.
Hopefully, this helps. If there is anything further that I may assist you with, please let me know.

Question/Answer
Anonymous asked on 05/13/03 - Stomach Problems

This will be my fourth time within 3 years (the last time, just a couple months ago) that I have severe stomach pain. The first time, I was in Mexico and the hospital said it was a severe case of gastridus (sp?). They gave me a shot and some meds and sent me home. About a year later, same thing (cramping, stomach pain), but my doctor said she believed it wasn't gastridus and that it was some kind of a bug that is causing me to product to much acid. She gave me some meds, but they didn't seem to help. Two months ago, she was on vacation and it got another case of it. I spoke to a doctor who was on call and he said it was a bug and suggested I stay away from dairy for 3 days. I told him I had some medicine left over from the year before and that it didn't seem to help. He suggested I take it (along with Immodiam AD - for the cramping) along with placing a hot pad on my belly. It helped, but I still had to avoid dairy for the next couple days.

Well, over the weekend, I started having pain again. This time, my belly button hurt so bad and the pain traveled all the way down. I ended up making a B.M. and felt better, but the next day, my lower belly hurts. I pressed it in and it is very sensitive. It's been that way for 2 days now. I've trying to go to the bathroom (bm) least once a day, if not more, but the pain still isn't going away. This morning while riding in the car, the bumps in the road were Killing me. I can barely walk (the motion of walking hurts me too) and there is pain every time I sit down. Once I am seated, I'm fine tho.

I'm hoping this will pass today, preferably NOW. It also hurts when I pass gas (which isn't much/often). I thought it was gas, but I took a gasX last night and it didn't help. Up until this morning, I wasn't getting cramps (lasts about 5 seconds and then disappears). About an hour ago, I had a cupcake and started getting cramps (they have calmed down a lot, but I still feel them).

Any suggestions as to what might be going on. What causes it and what can I do to prevent it? I have a doctor's appointment next Friday, but I'm thinking of going there today if I don't feel any better.

No signs of bleeding either, but I do have a pretty hard time "going".

bal317 answered on 09/02/03:

Hello: I am so sorry to hear of your discomfort. I would go immediately to your Hospital's emergancy room, to get some help in pain relief stemming from what you are describing, also asking for attention with help from a Physician who works in the Gastroenterology(dealing with the internal structure of the intestinal,colon/bowel)areas. They will have to do some testing such as a CT scan or even a MRI or even do a colonoscopy, all to look at the inside functions of your intestinal tract.
Sometimes individuals that have abdominal cramping such as you describe have a condition called, Irritated Bowel Syndrome, and others might have leisions, or other problems within the intestinal track that could be causing this type of discomfort.
But seeings how you are suffering with pain and the pain has been localized, associated with tenderness, I would go immediately before something worst could occur, at least you would know directly from the Physician that definately knows the bowel system, and get relief from your pain and knowledge of your current condition.
Hopefully, this helps. Please keep me informed on how you come out. Best to you.

Question/Answer
Anonymous asked on 08/20/03 - latest technology in hearing aids

Hi,

What is the latest technology out in hearing aids?

My mom, when she was 13 yrs old she had an itch in the ear to which she responded by placing a hair pin from her head into the ear to scratch it. As the back of the hairpin was padded and not pointed.

At which time, she had a push and the back end of the pin inserted into the ear more than it should have. She had lots of pain and little discharge from the ear for a few days. She was scared to tell her parents and then the problem subsided.

Later in adulthood while having a general check up she was informed that she cannot hear from the right ear.

Now at the age of 55 she feels a problem with having hearing only from one ear.

What can we do for her? What are the new technologies which have come out in which it wonít look like she is wearing a visible or prominent hearing aid? Where can I find more information before going to an ENT doctor?

My deceased grandfather had a hearing aid which we bought for him 2 years back. Itís big, ugly, heavy/bulky and of skin color which if you see closely, you can tell a person is wearing it. This was of the latest design which we could find.

Grandfather did not like wearing it as when he wore it he felt extremely uncomfortable as he could hear the sound of passing cars, horns, people yelling etc. and he felt that was very uncomfortable.

Is there anything we can do for mom? What is the latest technology, which can be permanently added to her ear which wonít cause the above problems and wonít have to be taken out and wonít be visible to everyone else? Kind of like a pacemaker is added inside and is not visible outside????????? Will she have to undergo surgery???????????????

Thanksrom

Anonymous asked on 08/06/03 - causing problem

Hi I wanted to know. About 8 years ago I had taken tablet Deltacortril for some problem but am perfectly right now and not using the medicine. I am 33 years old.

I noticed some small patches of hair loss which is really not noticeable unless I go for a haircut and thatís when the hairdresser points it out or when the wind blows and sometimes the patch is noticeable.

The dermatologist long time back gave me I think a spray called maxidoll or manidoll.

My problem still has not been cured. Is there any new products in the market that can help me.

Thank you

bal317 answered on 08/14/03:

Hello: Yes, there are some great products out, however, because you need to be seen by someone who can direct you into getting what would work the very best for you, I would suggest you return to the professional Dermatologist. Or, a scalp and hair professional.
Products on the market are a try and choose situation, and one can waste lots of money by trying different products with little to no success. So that is why I would return to the ones that can give you direct and positive approaches.
We also have to remember, genetics do play a large part in how our hair remains, so if there is balding or sparse hair in your family then there is a strong possiblity it is just heredity.

Anonymous asked on 08/13/03 - prescribe medicine

Can only doctors prescribe medicine. what about stuff like skin bleaching creams which need a prescription? does one have to be a dermatologist? or who can prescribe general medicines?

bal317 answered on 08/14/03:

Hello: Doctors or Physician's are the only ones that can prescribe medication that is govern by the Federal Drug Act. These individuals, know the full outcome and usage of these medications, when they administer the medication, you are using their gained knowledge by knowing that if you follow their instructions, you will get the results that you are looking for, in a safe and controlled way. That is why Physician's work hand in hand with the Pharmacist, so you receive not only instructions from your Doctor, but also written instructions and side effects from the Pharmacist as well. Prescribed medication has ingrediants within the product that has to be fully controlled, due to the strength of the drug, and what it can do to the body if not taken as planned, that is why only so much of any prescribed drug is given at one time, or can be renewed until one revisits the Physician who prescribes because it's all controlled for your very best interest.
A Dermatologist is a Physician, who specializes in all aspects of the skin care and problems of the skin and hair, including skin cancer.
Bleaching creams come in many strengths, and certain Companies go just to the limits of what they can get approved so the general public, by reading the Companies lable can self administer. However there is caution also written on these lables as well, and most Companies have insurance that will back them, however, most over the counter medication as such, could not harm you if one would use the entire jar at one time, because the strength is not that harsh, and if one does have sensitive skin and does not use the product well, all ingrediants are printed so the manufacture is not held liable and one can get the best medical help, by showing the Professional Physician what they have used. One does take these at their own risk.
Hopefully, this helps. If there is anything further that I may assist you with, please let me know.

My daughter has facial hair (mild) but getting worse with age, she just turned 12. I prefer to stay away from waxing but may consider bleaching but that's a continual thing that I rather not put her thru. I have am looking into some long term options...mainly because she's been teased and it's lowering her self-esteem. Kids can be very cruel...she really didn't see a problem til some of her 'friends' started making some rude comments. Considering laser and some ads here in Chicago for "Hair today...gone tomorrow"...not sure what really works. Worried we'll be scammed and out alot of money I really can't afford. Need some sound advice and not Hollywood hype or marketing selling tips. Please and thank you.
As for myself...as I've grown older I've noticed facial hair (i'm 34), right above my lips and sides of my face, more so over the past 3 years...never had to bleach but started doing so about 2 years ago. If this works may just consider doing my legs and bikini area but my main concern is our faces. So this treatment would hopefully work for both of us. I pray someone out there has some sound medical advice.

We're olive complexion, dark brown hair.

Anonymous asked on 07/30/03 - Groin lumps/bumps/knots

Hi there,
I have these hard, "knotty" lumps on either side of my groin, near the top by my hip bone. They don't hurt, protrude through the skin, or feel tender, and they're in exactly the same spot on both sides. You can't feel them unless you're searching around and pushing down a bit, but you definitely feel them and they're feel sort of knobby and tight. I've had swollen lymph nodes before, and these don't feel like that, but I sort of suspect that's what they are. They don't really move around, but when I move my legs the feel like the become bands or somethnig. Has anyone else had them, does everyone have them? I don't know if it's something I should worry about. I'm 23 and in vey good health otherwise, monogamous, and have been tested for all the big STD's. Can anyone shed some light? Thanks!

bal317 answered on 08/01/03:

Hello: ASAP, seek medical help, from your general physician or a Urologist. Never second guess any type of swollen areas, there is a host of reasons this could be going on, and only by a true professional that is fully trained that can follow through with the proper testing, will you know the correct facts.
It possibly could be a swollen lymph node/s that could mean infection of some sort, or a unusual growth.
But, you deserve the true facts.

Question/Answer
Anonymous asked on 07/29/03 - Breast tenderness

Hi,
I am a 19 year old female and for about 1 1/2 - 2 weeks now my breasts have been very tender and sore. I'm on the small side, so activities such as running were never a problem for me before, but lately it hurts. I used to get this feeling in my chest years ago whenever I got my period, but that hasn't happened for at least a year. They hurt during the beginning of my last period, but I've never had this happen in between periods like this before.
Does anyone have any idea what could be going on? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Also, in case anyone is going to ask and/or it is relevant - I am sexually active. In fact, about 5 days ago my boyfriend and I had a mishap and I ended up going to a doctor the next morning to get an emergency contraceptive. But my breasts were sore for at least 4 days before this, so I do not think it is related at all...

bal317 answered on 07/29/03:

Hello: My first immediate reaction and recomendation is to contact your physician and fully explain just as you did here about your symptoms. Even tho you have a small breast design does not mean you should not be worried about possible tumors within the breast tissue, one should seek a mamogram, when there is any discomfort so such problems can be checked out thourghly. You should also be in person by a professional given instructions on how to self breast exam.
Even small breasted people, when running is pulling on breast tender tissue, all breast need full support, so if all facts are found clear, check out good bras that will give support, and stop your breast from being forceably pulled down by gravitation due to the running motion.
All tumors in the breast does not mean cancer, but should be diagnosed by a professional.
So please for your very best avenue of finding out exactly what is going on, please seek the professional help, and if they can't find out by one, every problem has a true reason, so a 2nd opinion or 3rd until you have an answer is never out of the question.
Hopefully, this helps. If there is anything further that I may assist you with, please let me know.
Please keep me informed on what you find out.

bal317 answered on 07/25/03:

Hello: There are wonderful birth control methods on the market. I must advise, the very best birth control method, from prescription to over the counter, should be received from a qualifyed OBGYN, Physician. Because, he/she will be able to fully view what your body needs, and will indure. This goes with full education of the material or product that you will be using, and you will have medical backup, if anything should occur in the negative form.
We all have different body chemistry, and making a firm disicion that can change our lives forever, should be done with absolute confidence that this is the very best practice for you.
The visit would be painless, but great outcomes for your future.
To answer your questions.
The contraceptive you are asking about, the Patch. Is recently new, your professional physician would have all the stats on this product, and can fully tell you all the medical findings and specially if it would be good for you. It sounds wonderful for those who choose not to take oral contraceptives, and a easier way to know you are fully protected from pregnancy, however, you must remember, no birth control method will stop diseases, again that is why a professional physician is good to have on your side.
The sponge, in the past, when women of the night, who gave themselves to men for sexual pleasures, were hired through a man or woman, then this person would set up the transactions by getting them clients. The client would not want any responsibilities of any outcome from the sexual experience, specially pregnancies, so if a young lady would not receive her menstrual cycle the person she would work for would insert a sponge(usually one used in a ladies facial powder compac, as it was round but thick) way inside the vaginal opening hoping to gain entry to the cervix/uterus then the sponge doing it's job would extract the lining of the uterus, causing the menstrual cycle to begin, and ending any possible pregnancies. This is why on todays market, those types of sponges are not sold in compacs, and use of the sponge was stopped, because not only did it stop the pregnancy, but also women could stand a good chance of being infected and the whole practice was illegal.
Now the new sponge of today has been approved, but USA is slow at approval, which anytime if not already it could reach the levels needed for that approval from the FDA, and your medical advisor will look over if this method is good for you.
I have found few good sites that within those sites is much information to your inquiry.

My aunt uses almond oil and i use moisterizer. I am 32 and my aunt is in her late 40s but my aunt's skin looks healthier, glowing and soft. So should i stop using my moisterizer and switch to almond oil too?

bal317 answered on 07/18/03:

Hello: It never hurts to try. We all have different skin textures, and we all have special needs towards our skin, specially sun protection because of what the sun does, by drying out our skin.
Also, drinking pure water, at least 8-10 12oz. glasses per day and getting out in the fresh air, eating the basic 4 food groups and fruits and veggies, are a plus we all to often forget.
Hopefully, this helps. If there is anything further taht I may assist you with, please let me know.

Anonymous asked on 07/17/03 - wrinkles on face and neck

my mom is aged 58 but people in their late 40s call her aunty or treat her like a very elderly lady. my mom never took care of her skin, as she had too much to do with her kids, job, husband and house work.

Now if you see my mom's face she "really looks aged". She has wrinkes on the face and neck too.

What can be done for her. She also has a lot of dark circles under her eyes.

bal317 answered on 07/18/03:

Hello: Because your Mother has what sounds like skin deterioration, by muscle loss and possible dietary imperfection by not eating the proper daily nutritional requirements for her, and possibly not taking vitamins or healthy exercises. I would suggest her to visit her family physician. He/she can determine your Mother's best way of attacking these problems. Without knowing all your Mothers genuine nutritional needs, which only someone able to take certain test can get, no one can actually tell her what to do or take, without guessing, and that might work for your Mother but also could be missing certain items and all your Mother's hard work would go effortless because the outcome would not be as good as it could be.
Stress, neglecting ones health and looking at the end results like your Mom, can be over-whelming if handled alone.
Hopefully, this helps. If there is anything further that I may assist you with please let me know, and let me know how she comes out.

Anonymous asked on 07/17/03 - calcium how much do we need

how much does a female aged 30 need calcium. My mom never like having milk and now that she is 55 her bones are brittle, she falls every where and her nails and hair don't gorw that much either. I am 30 and the same thing goes with me. So is it too late for me to take calcium at aged 30.

My dad on the other hand loves milk and has 2 glasses of milk everyday. His nails are strong and need to be cut every fortnight and his hair also grows fast.

bal317 answered on 07/18/03:

Hello: What I would recommend in all honestly is to visit your family physician. He/she can do a bone mass test, to determine if what you are experiencing is hereditary and must have special needs.
Plus, you will be certain that what you will be doing to recorrect your current health issue is accurately good for you.
Also, your physician can refer you to a dietician that can go over great diets to help you improve your daily nutrient needs, and direct you to milk products that suit your taste buds.
Hopefully, this helps. If there is anything further that I may assist you with, please let me know.

Anonymous asked on 07/17/03 - do mixed marriages last

i am getting serious about a person who is out of my community. His father is an american and his mothe asian. He himself totally looks like a cute white guy with blond hair and hazel eyes.

I was brought up in India with traditional background. Though thank God i have travelled all over the world, and have ment people from all cultures and background, i was brought up to believe that we should marry our own kind because only those type of marriages last which are done with people of familiar background.

Where can i learn more about mixed marriages, their problems etc.

Also, i don't think i am like his other girlfriends should i try to be more amrcian?

bal317 answered on 07/18/03:

Dear Anon: If we truely look at the majority of people, we all have mixed marriages. Just because the skin tone is the same, many of us come from all walks of life and backgrounds genetically.
Mixed marriages, are no different than anyother union. The couple have to have a common ground, focus on what they want in life, move together on equal plane, love and respect each other.
No different than anyother union.
I know, because I am black and hubby is white, we are a truely together couple, no one gets in between us and we respect our family, friends co-workers and life. Only when we get the same in return do we allow any intrusion.

Anonymous asked on 07/07/03 - Sexual Query

Just wondering if a girl is a virgin and has her hymen intact, can you still access her G and A spots, or are they beyond the hymen?

Also is it possible that a girl can have her hymen intact a while after being sexually active, especially if the guy is not that big? I ask because i have heard different things about how deep the hymen usually is, from a couple of inches to several, etc... thanks

bal317 answered on 07/15/03:

Hello: The hymen is a vaginal tissue-thin, fleshy membrane found at the opening of the vagina. It has a central perforation that can be rounded or elongated through whtich menstrual blood will flow. If anything comes in direct contact with the vaginal area, the hymen"cherry", can be popped. This includes things other than sex, such as horse back riding, tight clothing, exercises specially learning how to do the splits, any rough play to the area. It was long thought that if the hymen was not to bleed at the first full sexual incounter that the female was not a virgin, in which we know this is not true, but irritation right from the begining of the vaginal area will involve touching and streching ones hymen.

Question/Answer
Anonymous asked on 07/07/03 - Contraceptives

What do u think is the best contraceptive, from a guy's and women's point of view?

condom - I think it is safe as long as it stays on, but just not very, ummmm, spontaneous....

spermicide gels - i guess this is more sensual and all, but is it really as safe as a condom? isnt it possible some sperm my not be killed?

diaphragm - i relaly know very little about this one

sponge - why is this still not approved here? have any of u used it, is it jus as good as a condom?

bc pills - heard its good, but to take it on schedule, miss one too risky it seems, and how expensive is it, do u need a prescription?

morning after pills - jus want to know about this, if its the best option, say, if your condom breaks or something, what else can you do to make sure?

Thanks.

bal317 answered on 07/15/03:

Hello: This is a very good question. Decisions to make prior to engaging in sex, is one that has to be carried out to the tee.
Condoms, can be used, and can be put on very sensual, however, condoms have been known to have small holes, and some people don't know when to put the condom on, meaning any secreations from the penis, can make a female pregnant, it is not just the climax explosion, as many think, so they think if they don't use a condom they can have sex, and pull out just befor the climax, and they are suprised when the female comes up pregnant.
Spermicide gels, are not perfect, and again it all depends on the practice of the woman, as to if she inserts far enough, also releases the solution at the point where she truely needs to, and the equipment needs to be thourghly clean to prevent infections for both partners specially the female.
Diaphragm, I loved the IUD, went to the physician, he inserted and I was set to go, however, one has to know how to check to see if the IUD, was in place, and one has to be very careful about using tampons, for they could snag and dislog, the IUD does not stop the female from getting impregnated, but when the sperm travels down to the egg collects, then goes to imbed into the uterus, that is where the forgien object stops the transaction, causing the whole episode to abort, creating the menstral cycle at the given time.
Sponge, was taken off the market in may places, because it was considered to be an abortion technique, in the past "ladies of the night" would go to their madam, if they did not get their period, and the madam would take a sponge from the facial makeup compac, and insert, causing the menstrual cycle to begin, creating an illegal abortion. Along with this if not clean techniques, many infections were seen, plus one has to know when to change out the sponge for not only cleanliness, but also for prevention of foul smell.
Birth control pill, one has to be seen by a physician to truely find out which pill works for them, and if the female is not good at taking and stopping the pill some are given a full round the month pills to take even through the period cycle so the female does not get out of sink. If you can schedule a habit, and have the pill at the same approx. time each day, it does not matter when, just the same time approx. each day, many would in the a.m. because they could go on about their business, but some because of work schedule do take at a p.m. period with their meal. But one again has to set the pace and stick to it, missing one, might not hurt you, you should never take a missed dosage, contact your physician let them know, then go onto the next pill. But if too many are missed your levels will drop and it could mean a pregnancy for you. Also, when starting taking the pill check with your physician as to when after you start you can have sex without worry of pregnancy, no one can start one day and have sex the next and be protected, your body does not react that fast.
Morning after pill, used in emergancy cases, but one should consider, protection up front and not worry about the possibility of needing that pill.
You do need a prescription, for BC, Diaphragms, Sponges and morning after pill.

Hopefully, this helps. If there is anything further that I may assist you with, please let me know.

bal317 answered on 06/20/03:

Hello: I know starting and staying constantly upon things when it is new, can be frustrating. However, one can never go wrong if they make an appointment with the Boss, prior to, jot down on paper, from the begining time of your work schedule to the end. Within that ask up front, seeings how you are new and not a mind reader you need definate notice as too which email/mail or any communication he wants to know about, and in the proper order, important, regular, secondary, and disposable. Also appointments how you want them arranged as well. Then ask if there is a protocal to your job and if there is anything on that written protocal that he wants to add or delete. When your Boss wants to respond to all communication so you won't be off of schedule. Ask for a certain place to place all communication from you to him, so it won't be overlooked.
Remind him, you are there for him and the Company and that in order for you to work more efficent, less chances of mixed communication, or to alieviate any frustration, you so wish to organize with all of the above with the correct reading of the minds of you and him.
By asking him about the above you will have up front informtaion that you can follow, and if there is a move from the list that the both of you come up with, then add that to the already made list.
I truely feel position changes increases ones mental attitude, some people are true go getters that don't make, having a higher position, go to their heads, and others who might have the education or whatever it took to get the job just the oposent effect and it's all a power pull and they can make things difficult as they struggle to "show off", their importance of that position and only if they are out too prove they are the big shot and all below them need to jump, they still have to understand, that lower level employee needs assistance to complete the work for the Boss or the Boss will not shine as good as he/she could, and in doing so might loose a good, qualifyed person that is trying to help them along the way. This last was for your ears and understanding only, not to share with your Boss, but for you to understand not all people treat others correct when they should.
Hopefully, this will help. Please let me know how you come out. Also if I can help you any further.
My very best to you,

bal317 answered on 06/20/03:

Hello: I hope you are relaxed while reading this, as too much stress continuously is never good, so breath in and out slowly, and remember that simple exercise prior to performing task that seem over-whelming.
First and foremost, your Company has guidelines, that includes levels of job status, each position should have clarification of job duties, I would simply ask for those job duties, is asked why, simply because you want to be efficient and by meeting those requirements by having in writing you will at least not only know what is expected of you, but if all goes bad, you will have something to fall back on as proof you were meeting the jobs requirements.
Next, is to start by understanding those requirements and truely make sure you are fully meeting those requirements to the very best of your ability.
Start in everyway to acknowledge who your Boss is, by respecting the fact this person is your Boss, that has a responsibility, and to make the Boss's job easier you have too respect him, and know if you don't someone is right behind you that will.
Now, your Boss had your job prior too you, so my question is, why wasn't this organization pretty much in order? I would ask your Boss, kindly, what seemed to have caused your position such a mess, is this a new system or did something happen that nothing is in order, such as also, why did he find it easy to work unorganized?
That this will take time, as it is new to you, and seeing how he never had too organize he should fully understand.
For whatever means, I would never flat out refuse to help him with his paperwork organization, but I would keep a calendar of all that you are reorganizing daily, because you might find it best in your behalf in case there is ever a complaint, your daily working duties will have been already documented, with date, time it took to complete the task, and what amount of work was included.
Obviously, you are being forced in a way to step up to the plate of a very unorganized position, by also organizing it will make your position so much better as well, so also think of how you will become more efficent. Which in turn will cause less mental stress, and will build your self esteem to know you could do the trick.
Open your mind, allow the proceedures to become more of a challenge and not a harsh chore, you are a team member of a Company, and by being in your position, by the Boss looking smooth, good, and organized everyone including the Boss will know it all comes from the Right hand person and it most definatley will be you.
Learn, learn , and learn all you can, we are never invinceable, who knows how long your Boss will hold the position, you might find yourself in his shoes one day, would you not want to be fully prepared?
I also, would say to your Boss, confidentuallity is something that you would like to keep, and is there a way for your desk to be off of limits by all, because, if your work gets tampered with, then that would just put you so many steps backwards, but if he does have to go through your desk, please only go through and select the proper drawer that you would feel comfortable for him getting a pen/pencile, your calendar or anything that would be immediately needed if or when you are gone, otherwise please let it wait until you return or can be contacted, and you will be able to rest assure.
We all need our privacy while at the workplace.
When you leave or even among other employee's never discuss your Boss, job or anything that could put you in a negative, gossip line for the Company.
So, line up and face the music, with the position you have there are things you might not normally want too do, but you are the one being requested to fill the bill, and I am sure you did not get that position without the Company thinking you could handle it.
Hopefully, this has helped. Wishing you much success in your work field. If there is anything further that I may assist you with, please let me know.

my friend and i were talking about the scars which i have on my forehead and she has on her cheeks. she said the doctor had given her clariderm DS to be used with her regular face cream instead of Retin A. She said that this cream is much better than Retin A because Retin A peals off your skin and this one does not and they both give the same results.

is that true? how long should this be used? is it effective and safe?

She said it can also be used for the dark circles under the eye area.

Hello: Medication in any form is prescribed for specific reasons and for that person's needs. That is why all medication must be prescribed by a qualifyed physician that has fully examined the client. You and your friend might be of the same race, appear to have the same color of skin, however each skins texture is too different, as in how the skin will heal on each, what makes each others skin blemishes/scars lesson all depends on the texture, some will say blemishes/scars never heal, when other's can use the correct ingrediant for them and the area heals nicely as if nothing has ever effected it. Some have to go through exstreme measures in treating their skin for a more positive result and only a qualifyed physician can direct you.
That would be my advice, have a consult with a Dermatologist, ask in advance and see if the consult will cost and as too how much, in many cases it is free or very low priced.
Take your questions and ask, for a more accurate and safe fact.

bal317 answered on 06/12/03:

Hello: Applying a crepe bandage can be done in a figure 8, starting around the wrist once, then going towards the palm of the hand towards the little finger but not up that high, around back of hand and in-between the thumb and pointing finger, in front of palm too wrist going around the wrist and repeating. Caution on how tight and how long, because what could be a good feeling method for you, can easily turn into a turniquet and cause loss of blood supply too the extremity.
I feel you are having carple tunnel syndrome, problems. By going too your physician or an orthopedic surgeon he/she can assest your trauma and direct you into treatments that will be best for you, there is remedies of relief, usually done by surgery, but not life threatening and easily too overcome and best point no more pain.
Soaking like you are doing, and use of bandage are only temporaily methods the problem is not fixed. But by going too the physician's mentioned you will get help.

Is it true that the more you sleep the more you feel sleepily? Thatís what my mom says. After coming home from work after an 8 day shift the only thing I want to do after having an early dinner at 6pm is sleep. I just work on a computer all day long so I donít do any hectic foot work but I am totally exhausted. Then I try to wake up at 10pm or so to iron my clothes but I am in deep sleep and just cant seem to wake up. The ironic thing is that when my mom tries to wake me up at 630am in the morning to get ready for work I am still sleepily. Though my blood pressure and sugars levels are within normal limits. Though I am obese.

I take vit b complex which gives me extra energy but if I take them everyday they give me indigestion headaches, I take multivitamin for women everyday too. I am 30 years old. My doctor has said that I am okay but then why do I lack energy and feel like sleeping all the time?

for breakfast i take two cups tea and two toast
for lunch i take one sandwich of brown bread and some salad
for dinner i take one serving of either rice or bread with some curry

bal317 answered on 06/12/03:

Hello: I know from the medical end, that we are getting people up and moving from the bed, because it seems the bed takes a person's strenght and weakens them more, so physical exercise is more important, this produces the body to become tired from natural movement, and when one is asleep, their body is fully resting as well, so when you wake up you feel more refreshed.
After reading the above clarification, and seeing you are limited on activities your going too have too become inventive. Because as suggested, you need too get mentally and physically inspired, so your mind and body can get naturally tired. You also need too have something too occupy your mind in a "fun" area of levels, laughter can stimulate the crankiest person into a more calmer state.
I would suggest you getting a DVD or VHS tape on body exercises, also come comic/loose comedy movies, what one of my daughter's does and she's an adult but handicapped physically in a wheelchair, is too number paint, she says it relaxes her and she gets different arm exercises and the final results of the pictures are beautiful, also if one day you can afford it buying a telescope and looking up knowledge about the earths sky and keeping a journal on what findings you see and also getting on the computer and searching out chat rooms of where those who would be that would hold an interest in whatever hobby you deside too follow through with. Even furthering your education can be done on the computer with help of others. I realize you work on the computer and your work is taxing, but things can change when you are doing things for yourself and not for another.
There is a difference too me from disappointment and depression, disappointment is when you are not satisfyed that what you want too do is not being done, but you shake it off and go on. Where as depression is the first part of disappointmen, however the person holds on too the disappointment until it becomes a struggle too shake the problem in turn you begin too suffer mentally and physically and start building walls to help ignore the problem, when in the end the walls you build become your enemy and works a negative action on the body and mind.
You might not have the open organizations available too you within your hometown, but you have the world at your fingertips through your home computer and movies, just like us here in the USA sort of did through books and tv, but we dove into those items and would enjoy by dreaming of what we read and seen for someday too be able too participate. You are young and life does change for many, so by allowing yourself too explore all you can now, can definately ready yourself for tomorrow. Remember we are always here for you anytime.

Hello: I can not find anything that matches your actual discription of problems sleeping. However, I find what is going on with you too be something that I would strongly suggest you speaking too your Mother about. See if keeping a Journal of when these episodes occur(frequency's), then recalling what you were doing the night prior too, including your full day's events, specially if you have been stressed about situations, your eating patterns, physical problems(such as weight, vitals not in the proper measures-elevated blood pressures, elevated oral temperatures, or flu type symptoms). Then contact your family Physician and explain your problem, have him or her assest your medical health, and see if you can be referred too a Sleep Study Program, so your actual sleep pattern can be studied by a professional that truely knows what and how too help those having sleep disorders.
Stress, physical and mental problems, drugs, and poor dietary habits can effect ones sleep program and one can be helped.

my mom bruises easily. we did her platelets count and they were a bit lower than the normal count for which the doctor said nothing to worry about. is that true? how often shouod she have it? what complications can she get from this? what steps can she take to prevent it?

bal317 answered on 06/08/03:

Hello: There are a number of medical reasons why your Mother bruises easily. Your medical provider having her medical history would be the very best place too start. I would request another testing, and if the testing come back the same, then I would suggest a 2nd/3rd opinion.
For unusual happenings there is a reason, but the correct medical provider has too be the key for the answer.
Prior and while having the testing, I would suggest you ask your medical advisor, what should she stay away from such as in medication, so blood thinning is not a problem, also, ask her too take things more slowly so as too not rush and accidently run into things which can cause trauma. Definately if she has a medical emergency, please advise whom-ever is too take care of her, of her recent medical problem and it's standing.
If you get a true diagnosis, get her a medical identification bracelet or necklace, so if she can not speak for herself, she will have that too help anyone that is attending her.

Anonymous asked on 06/04/03 - Syntaris Nasal spr.

Hi,

Few years back for my blocked nose an ENT doctor gave me Syntaris Nasal spr. which is a steriod. It worked wonders. Then after a few months i had the same problem so i sued it again. Though i was instructed to use it once in 2 days but since it was winter time and after taking showers and lying under the fan or working in the office in the AC, i used to get suffed up nose immediately.

After taking a shower if i go into an AC room, which i have to, like at my wokr office, my nose becomes immediately closed and i get sneezing.

Anyway, so i used the above medicine more times than i was told to do so. So my nose started to bleed only a little.

Now after 2 years, i went to the pharmacy to get the same medicine and they say we don't give out this drug anymore.

They did not give me an explation as to why not.

Can someone tell me why? have they heard about this drug and why they have stopped giving it to patients.

Thank you.

I checked out my nose to the ENT and he said that my nose bone is fine and straight and i don't have sinus but may be starting of allargies.

bal317 answered on 06/04/03:

Hello: One should never self medicate. That means going against the Physician's recommended usage of any medication given.
Nasal sprays can be harsh, and one has too remember using nasal sprays the nozzel is constantly inserted in the nose, which means the nozzle is dirty and repeated usage of the same bottle can create more problems, bacteria grows in moist dark space, and when the bottle is used it gets moist, sealing with the cap creates the darkness, using can create an infection it's self.
The Pharmacy may have it's own reasoning and you should ask for the head Pharmacist to give you a direct answer because of the confusion it has left you. They also will have direct information given too them by their medical guidelines.
Use of nasal sprays can mask the fact the person could have the beginings of allergies, and testing needs too be done, for a complete accurate diagnosis.
I have chosen a site for you too view:

www.home.intekom.com/pharm/roche/syntaris.html

Please follow through with your Physician and complete the medication as given within the direct time. If you have any left overs, ask if you can be safe in using at a later date or if you should discard them.

Hopefully, this helps. If there is anything further that I may assist you with, please let me know.

What can i do for my increased eye pressure?

The doctor said to take tablet Xannax. I don't want to take that tablet!!!!!!!! I have heard it is addictive and over the ong lun it slows the brain capacity to think and react. No way am i going to take Xannax.

What do you guys think?

Note to all the experts who answered in such a hurry thank you so much for caring enough to respond. If any of you have any more suggestions pl let me know.

bal317 answered on 06/04/03:

Hello: Eye pressure is measured by a qualifyed Opthalmalogist. It is painless, but the eye drops may sting a little but is very tolerable. This is the Physician too see reguarding the eyes.
I suggest this because, many nerves are in the eyes, and if the pressure is not monitored, specially when one has noticed any complications, the outcome might not be reversable if left unattended.

Please let me know, how you turn out. I do have too say, I am still not very impressed with how your Physician seems so laid back on helping you with a more positive approach to your migraines. Yes, we know there are things we have too live with, and some maybe painful, but help with medication. However, one has too know their provider is in their corner and can be compasionate, along with wanting too give their Clients the best and complete testing available to help ease ones mind that indeed they are having a definate problem and the definate cause and naturally the very best treatment, that includes your physician knowing too refer you too the Opthalmalogist him/herself. After all you are depending on that fact finding and not wanting your health to deteriorate or misguided. That is why malpractice insurance agents are not pleased with this type of medical provider. You only have one set of eyes and if they are not damaged now, they should not be over-looked in keeping them that way. Also, if you have anytype of infections which blood work can detect along with the proper exams.
My very best too you,
bal317

If you deceide too see another medical opinion, don't be concerned it's all for the best you can find for you, but I would have that new physician send your current physician a finding report and ask why more was not done, or suggested for your benefit.

Please advise as I would like to go and get all the possible tests done and then share the results with my doctor.

I asked the doctor what type of tests I can get done for my migraine and his answer was ďCurrently, there are no specific tests available for migrainesĒ.

So my question to you the experts is to let me know of all the possible tests that I can get done and I will do them and then share their results with my doctor.

Thank you.

When you go too the site, place your cursor over the darken wording to continue the information. All is very printable for your needs.

Anonymous asked on 06/03/03 - hernia at the belly button area

my dad has a hernia at the belly button area just near it. it has been there since long. the doctors have said to leave it alone till it acts up. BUT now its the size of a soft ball. its soft in nature. When my dad was last admitted in the hospital the doctor has said "leave this alone he has too many problems already to look after".

I am afraid that if it acts up, will it burst like an appendix does and can be fatal?

what can we do about it? we always get the same answers from doctors that your father has so many other medical problems like asthma, heart, diabetes, etc that don't worry about this till it acts up. but now its difficult for him to sometimes button his pants. and it has become huge.

bal317 answered on 06/03/03:

Hello: I am sorry too hear of your Father's condition. Hernia's are out pouchings from a weakend wall in the abdominal area, they start small and can get very large, but as they are developing other internal organs can be included within the hernia, causing any surgical remedies impossible to challenge, for fear of death to the patient. Also, as your physician has pointed out, your Father has other health issues that need too be kept up too par and having too deal with the hernia on a surgical method, would be too harmful for him, but only under extreme situations the Physician feels should the hernia be delt with.
It seems it is all for the betterment and safety of your Father.
Now there is somethings you can do to help cope with this problem.
One very important thing is with your Father, go too the Physician and have him/her fully explain all the whys, what is the decision factor stopping this repair, and what is the risk, and mainly if he should ever need surgery, what would be his survival rate and hospital stay and aftercare?
Yes, it seems simple when talking why not take this and repair, but because of all the known reasons your Physician can tell you will clear up doubt in your mind.
You can always get a second and third opinion and more, but only deal with those who stress a accurate outcome and fully guarentee with a team of medical advisors that this surgery would be in the best benefit and saftey for your Father, as surgical methods have changed and some use laproscopic techniques which in turn require less after effects, but again the candidate has too be in certain medical health too with stand the proceedure.
I feel furthering your education on hernia's would be too your best, and also seeing what a person can do when they can't repair for bettering their life, so they can live with a hernia. Some Physician's can offer support appliances for the area too help lesson the heaviness, and fit the client with proper fitting clothing, wearing their shirt on the outside of their pants and having elastic waist line, many wear a sweat pants which helps them for comfort and many colors too choose from for outtings or staying at home.
When you go too these sites, you will see highlighted words, by placing your cursor over the words and click, you will get more information, which is very printable and you can also let your Physician go over these with you for his/her explanation and agreement or disapproval.

Question/Answer
Anonymous asked on 06/03/03 - emotional depression linked to cancer?

both of my grandparents had cancer and due to which their doctor had said that my grandparent's 7 children 5 might have this terrible disease.

My question is can being emotional like being depressed increase your chances of getting cancer? i am worried as my mom is depressed and looks ill. she has hallow eyes, shortness of breath, and lack of interest in anything. i take them to be signs of depression and so does our general phy. BUT cancer can crop up anywhere unexpectedly and then its too late.

My other uncle who is also a bit extra sensitive due to being seperated from his wife and kids is experiencing blood in his stools which the doctor says is piles. I am also worried about him.

What do you say? grandmother had ovarian cancer and grandfather had brain tumor

bal317 answered on 06/03/03:

Hello: I am very confused as too why a professional would ever make a diagnosis without examining the ones he/she would speak about. I could understand the wording being said, seeing how cancer was sited with the grandparents, there is a high risk in the family and others should report any unusual problems and note their parents health history, so the attending physician will know. But too say out of know where your going to have cancer, is false and can never be diagnosised like that.
Stress, can not be an immediate link too cancer, cancer is abnormal cells attacking the area they have infected. Cancer is something that can not be transfered from one to another by touching. But, it can indicate within the patient's family they might see cancer strike again out of genetic background, but again it may skip generations, but seeing how it had been diagnosised in this family, always bear that in mind for early detection.
I would speak too your Mother's phycologist/phychiatrist and ask if they can give her medication and counceling that can help her lesson her stress and depression, also refer you too a dietician that can help plan sensible meals that will help her meet and maintain a healthy weight, and nutritional levels for her.
Because, one has a diagnosis proving too be cancerous, does not mean the end, there is great treatments that can help today's patients. One can not or should not keep high levels of stress just thinking one day cancer will crop up on them, make each and every day count, because when one thinks cancer will be their end, they can have other health issues or possible injury that can cause them death.
Piles are known as Hemorrhoids, this is painful and or itchy and swollen veins in the rectum or anus, caused by stress or pressure too the above area, by constipation and pushing so hard for great amounts of time, sitting lengthy time on toilet, some get this from having children, and also standing on hard surfaces while they work long hard hours. There is many applications that can help reduce the swelling which is out on the market today, in creams and suppository methods, there is surgical proceedures that also can be done, to help.
One should change their eating pattern too include higher fiber, but also should seek professional medical help and a good dietician who can help them plan their meals.
It's always good too know your family medical history, by collecting that sort of information when one visits a physician, it helps them become aware of what has transposed in your family and too see if there is a link, but one should not live for the day they will end up having what happened too one of their ancestors, happening too them, because one would create great amount of unnecessary stress and medical misguideness for no reason at all. Until you have a medical problem that seems too be an indication by all the symptoms of cancer, by all means attend your yearly physicals, mammogram for women, along with pap smears, and keep a positive attitude too help stear away from depression, males should get prostrate exams, and if one smokes make sure your physician knows, listen too the physician and follow the rules that are offered.

Hopefully, this helps. If there is anything further that I may assist you with, please let me know.

I am wondering if you have encountered some examples of improper etiquette in society. Specifically, a persons emotional response. I know everyone has in the usual circumstances, for instance someone laughing at a funeral. But I am trying to find at least two more examples that are not commom.

Thank You

bal317 answered on 06/03/03:

Hello: What I think is very improper, when an adult gets angry at a child when the child in fact, very perfect(usually out of fear), but the adult will ridicule the child as if they were bad.

When a person gets a great laugh out of someone elses pain, misery or genuine bad luck.

When a person's back is against the wall, and they lie about the fact, knowing you know the truth and they so strongly try too get you too believe in them, it's as tho they actually step outside their body and really believe they are telling the truth.

When someone offers too help you and conviences you they are, when in fact they just want too see you get caught up in bad situations.

Anonymous asked on 06/03/03 - Woman Problems

My period is supposed to start around the ninth of June. Last sunday was the twenty-fifth of May, and as my boyfriend and I were having sex, he noticed some redness in my discharge. (As if I were in the early stage of my period) I didn't think much of it because I am visiting a new place, far from my home, and I know that new surroundings and added stresses can sometimes mess up the cycle. My period did not start however, and a few days later it happened again. It has now happened four times in the last eight days, and every time just when we have sex. It will then go away and there will be no such discharge until the next time we try. Each time seems to get a little worse, but none of it looks like the regular deep red color of my period. It is a sort of a mucusy greyish red, and some is a very bright red. The fact that it only happens when we have sex, and it began so soon before my scheduled period really concerns me, and I would appreciate any information or advice you could give me. As I said before, I am very far from home and in another country, so seeing a doctor would be very difficult before the end of June when I return home. Thank you for your help

As you know this is unusual not only in you but any woman who is having this type of problem.
I am a firm believer in never second quessing this type of medial problem. I would strongly suggest you visit a Female Clinic, ER, or your boyfriends Physician as soon as you can. It could be as simple as your not lubricated enough and dryness is causing the problem, too the way you are having sex, or he is not gentle with his sexual practice.
There are a zillion quesses and all could be wrong. Not wanting you too need immediate attention and giving you false reasoning, I have too say very loud, seek a medical health provider ASAP.

yesterday something funny happened for which i would like to know what it was meaning was it a migraine or something else.

yesterday at 330pm i had severe eye ache which i thought would go away. it didn't after having lunch and sleeping then waking up at 430-5pm i had severe ache and nausea.

Then the symptoms which happen with migraine came and were very bad in nature. i took tablet zomig 2.5 mg for the migraine. tablet tenormin 50 mg for the pressure and tablet motillium for the vomit.

then at 4am in the morning i became normal again with slight eye ache still persisting.

was this migraine? or what

bal317 answered on 06/03/03:

I feel you might of had another health issue, which caused stress and the migraine started. You also may of had signs of infections starting.

I personally feel, when you are taking prescribed medication, and unusual happenings begin or you can not get relief from the medication you are on, seek the professional help from your physician over-seeing your condition.

Many say there is indication, food allergies and other allergic problems can also influence headaches and migraines.

Hopefully, this helps. By seeking the information from your Physician, they also have cooling face mask, and other products out on the market that can help when one is experiencing migraines. Please let me know if there is anything further that I may assist you with.

Your physician has on hand at his or her posession, your medical records and any testing material you have taken, your physician is a licensed medical professional, any diagnosis the physician has made should only be redirected by another professional that can full access your medical condition with quality assurance, that you will be doing the very best techniques for your safety and continued good health.
I would get another professional physician's opinion, and if the account of what your first physician says is true, ask too speak directly too Physical Theraphy, they are qualifyed in helping one with medical problems regaiin their strenght and working without causing further trauman/damage to the area.
Also, many Insurance Co.'s will help with the cost.
Together, both medical teams will know how too treat your problem, the very best way too provide you freedom from the discomfort.
Another professional too ask about would be a Dietitian, they can provide you with the very best diet that fits your needs, and will be willing too work with a Nurse on their staff that will gladly weigh you in on scheduled times.

Question/Answer
Anonymous asked on 05/27/03 - is this arthritis or something else if so what and how can i fix it

Why do I have stiffness in the mornings on my hands the front side ? and when I go to the doctor for an examination my joint examination is perfectly alright. The doc said that it is the beginning of arthritis but my blood results came out okay. I am Rh negative and 32 years old.

When the stiffness comes I have a problem bending my fingers and it feels like I need to put oil like one would do in a rusted machine to lubricate it. Though my fingers or knuckles donít hurt. Itís the wrist that hurts. Then if I donít take any pain medicine immediately, the pain radiates to the whole upper and lower arm. This pain is soooooo strong that it keeps me awake all-night. Like last night, my pain started at 6pm in the evening. I took medicine at 630pm and the pain did not go away. Then again at midnight I woke up with severe pain for which I took tablet brufen 400 mg and tablet volteran 25mg.

Usually, I take tablet volteran 50 mg and brufen 200 mg but nothing works I also apply balm.

The only thing that works is that I tell my mom with one foot to very carefully and softly stand on my wrist and hands for a few seconds. I extend my hand out on the carpet and she softly stands on it for a few seconds and then takes her foot away. This does wonders for the pain. This is the only way that the pain goes away. Is this dangerous? Because when she massages with her hand there is no relief for the pain.

Also, I do not have a tub but should I soak my wrists in a bowel full of warm water?

Also when my back hurts, I lie down on the carpet and ask her to stand on my back and massage it with both the feet for a few seconds. That is the only thing that works.

Is this dangerous? As nothing else works.

When I was younger, like since the 6th grade, I have been cracking my knuckles. Is this the cause of my wrist pain? BUT my knuckles donít hurt itís the wrist area.

I am a secretary so I need to type all day long its my b read and butter.

bal317 answered on 05/27/03:

Hello: I have too agree with jabar. I personally had both hands operated on due to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. With instant relief, and great recovery.
This condition, in the past was called, "mop-washing syndrome", because women who washed their floors with the old rag mops, would constantly be ringing out the thick mop head, twisting their own hands and causing stress to the hand area, eventually their hands would ache, also noted having these complications are people with thick hands, or those who type, nurses who give shots routinely, or anyone who constantly uses their hands in strenuous positions, can develope.
Mostly the pain is noted at night.
The proper physician too see for full diagnosis is a Orthopedic Surgeon, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, common cause of numbness and pain in hands and fingers. When the median nerve is pinched in the wrist as it passes through the carpal canal.
I have found an exclusive site which fully explains and also has highlighted wording that by placing your cursor over and clicking, will further the explanation.
Please view:

Hopefully, this will help. If there is anything further that I may assist you with, please let me know.
The Orthopedic Surgeon, speciallizes in bones, joints, tendons, muscle, bones, and determines any negative or positive facts. They also work well with the Neurologist who determines any nerves that can be affected as well. If there is another source too your problem, you will definately be able to also find that out with them. As they will keep your general Physician up to date, so all your medical needs will be addressed.

Anonymous asked on 05/25/03 - exercising how much to coordinate with my Fluctuating BP

hi after much deliberations conscious i have finally decided to exercise after work from 5-7pm. I have decided to lose the much unwanted pounds and not be the subject of thin peoples' ridicule!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, the above is nothing new. Till i lose the weight it will be laughs on my account till become normal in thin normal peoples' eyes.

My question is that since i will be walking for an hour and doing some light very light weights, how much will my pressure go down after exercising. Because i take my hypertension medicine tablet ternormin 50 mg in the morning and 50 mg in the evening.

So i do not want my pressure to go down too much due to exercising and then also take my hypertension medicine.

Does the blood sugar also go down after exercising? how much and low long does it stay low for?

How much does the pressure go down for and how long does it stay down for?

Does coffee also increase the pressure. I have 3 cups a day should i stop?

Thanks once again :)

bal317 answered on 05/26/03:

Hello: I was on a research team for monitoring blood pressure levels, and seeing if all the data we pulled from countless collected material, could help predispose someone having the values that indicate, heart problems.
What I found out, blood pressure elevation, can come from a host of situations. The obvious one would think is being over-weight, but that is not always true. Other problems could be, clogged arteries, poor circulation, weakened kidneys, stress, hereditary, poor choice of dietary intake-such as too many calories per day, salt, caffeine, fat, and carbohydrates.
So, before you start a change in your normal daily routine to help improve your health, I would strongly recommend you visit with your physician, explain to him/her your concerns about wanting too lower your blood pressure, and also loosing weight.
Then your physician can tell you what is the reason your blood pressure is elevated-what is causing this accurately why? Also, you can be referred to a dietitian, who can give you the proper diet for you that will co-inside with your medication and you won't bottom out, then with the assistance from your physician, you can also be directed to a physical therapist who can help you formulate a proper exercise program that fits you.
People in our today's society can be cruel among voicing their opinion about others, no matter it you are too thin, heavy, tall, good looking, bad looking, wonderful person to the most terriable person. People will always have something negative too say.
That is when you have too build up your self esteem, you know you, you know what type of person you are, you know that you are a child of God, and deserve respect, understanding and love. Again, we all get talked about and laughed at, but pitty those who find talking about you because they should look back at themselves, because who are they? I know this sounds like simple talk but that is true fact, we all have some form of something about us that we need too change for our health or we just don't like.
Listen too your head, and understand you can only do what is best for you, and finding help from your physician will lead you too the correct steps. Then give yourself time and patience. Think 6 months to Xmas, so say you want to loose 80 pounds, well by just eating the correct calories per day, you would only need to loose, 13.3 pounds per month, or 3.3 pounds per week(given 4 weeks per month). So 3.3 pounds per week for 6 months will give you a 80 pound loss present for Xmas.
This is just simple no stress recommendations that I feel would be safe for you. Physician visit, definate reason for your elevated blood pressure, visit with dietitian for proper diet for you, visit with physical therapy for designed exercise program, patience in time for the amount of weight you could loose by Xmas, and forgetting other's comments, you are worth all the gold in the world, get out meet with family and friends and be happy that you have made up your mind to help yourself.

Hopefully, this helps. If there is anything further that I may assist you with, please let me know.

If you want to change your appearance, go to a Cosmetologist and get suggestions, a free consult is often worth it's weight in gold.
Reach out in your community, like I said, it's not that you do it every day, but schedule a time that meets your everyday routine, and do what you want too uplift your spirits, and this also brings up your self esteem. Even if it is to volunteer at a Nursing home, or hospital, church group or any benefical community programs.
You can also, get involved with making projects at home, painting, woodwork, floral arrangements, cooking, needlework, dancing, exercises, reading, writing a novel, or anything that seems to have been a put off to you because of your time schedule.

Hopefully, this will help you. If there is anything further that I can assist you with, please let me know.

Anonymous asked on 05/22/03 - latest techniques on diabetes and its management

my dad is a diabetic. he has been since the age 40. he has type II diabetes. Now since he is aged 60 his blood sugar level elevates a lot and we have to keep a strict check on it. What is the latest procedure for this. I think the glucometer we have at home is old fashioned. Is there anything new, new techniques that we can get that will lessen the hassle of pricking poor dad everytime then inserting the blood drop on the glucometer strip and then inserting the strip and waiting for an answer on what the level of his blood sugar is? what about herbal stuff can they help? someone said having bitter things to drink and eat will decrease the blood sguar naturally?

My dad takes Glucophage tablet twice a day and insulin 20 units in the morning and 20 units in the night time before going to bed.

He also takes inhalers for his asthma and medicines for his heart condition.

Bal 317 do you have any more gusses as to what the problem cna be?

Bal 317

I asked my general physician and she said that the loss of hair could be due to stress or decrease in protein in your diet which can cause hair to come out in clumps but frankly I like your answer better and I just called my mom to check our bed linen.

We are very clean about changing CLEAN bed sheets every day.

We do not have any kids around the house who can play pranks or jokes on us its only the 4 of us.

Also, we use good quality imported from UK best quality shampoos and conditioners.

WHAT ELSE do you think it could be?

Hello: Again, I am so curious as to why the both of you at approx. the same time.
So, I also would check on the products you are using, maybe the manufacturer has changed the ingrediants, but there is a possiblity as well as the product is made that one could develope an allergic reaction, which could cause the hair loss.
A patch test can determine.
I have chosen a couple of good articles, in which you should read them in full.

Question/Answer
Anonymous asked on 05/20/03 - Long Term Memory Problems

Hi,

In comparison to others, it seems that my long term memory for recalling events from years ago doesn't seem real good. I've had friends say, "Don't you remember when we did such and such. And at first, I can't seem to recall it and sometimes it takes prompting on there part to make me remember. I've had trouble remembering teacher's and instructor's name's from high school and college. Now, there are events I remember that they don't necessarily do, but is it more to do with selective memory...in other words, we remember what we want to remember. In just seems that I should remember more than I do, or is it that it is there in memory but for some reason I can't recall it. My memories of high school are just general...can't remember particulars that others do. I'm in my forties now and wonder if I should remember more than I do. In just seems that my present life is so harried and busy that I don't have time to think back on past events and I forget. Could I have a vitamin deficiency? Just wondering.

Thanks

bal317 answered on 05/22/03:

Hello: You are not alone, some days get so hectic to many that they can't tell you what they had for lunch on a certain given day, or even where they had it.
So, thinking back in your past, should not come as a surprise to you that it is not at ready hand.
To give you other facts of how many lives need help in recalling what or when we do something, many suggest we keep a journal, or take pictures of our travels and special times, or things of interest for recall, also most watches contain month and day dates for us as reminders, and calenders of all types are sold for help as well.
Not too mention, tape recorders, and reminder notes, buttons, buzzers and telling someone to help you remember what we need to know, that is all just facts, we live in a face pace society.
Now, I would show great concerns if you look at someone that you should know and don't, or you can't remember definate information like your bank codes or safe combinations or all of a sudden you totally forget your families identity.
But, our memory only holds things of situation for so long then it gets filed away and we have to concentrate and have help from others to recall.
I knew a girlfriend of mine daughter's name, and for the life of me I could not recall it, so I go through the alphabet and it took me a while to recall, I might even called someone in the family and simply asked, because it wasn't that I did not have interest in her exsitance, it was that I had not had too recall her name for current reasons. You are only human.

Hopefully, this helps. Again, if your symptoms get worst, then I would show concerns, but happen-stances to happen, and just say, you know, I can't recall, can you help. You will be surprised at how little one has to give you before you start bringing the past to current.

If there is anything further that I may assist you with, please let me know.

Question/Answer
Anonymous asked on 05/21/03 - scared of getting diabetes

Hi I am scared of getting diabetes. I am 230 pounds whereas my doctor says due to my height I am suppose to be 115pounds. I am walking everyday since the last one week half an hour everyday.

My dad got type II diabetes at the age of 40. Now I am 31 going on 32. Till now I have had low to normal blood sugar on random checking. I always have it done because dad has diabetes so I check myself for it every 4-6 months.

I got scared when I read this:

have blood sugar issues (hypoglycemia), there is diabetes in the family so my hypoglycemia is prossibly pre diabetes. Basically it all comes down to balancing blood sugar.

MEANING I WILL ALSO DIABETES BECAUSE I HAVE LOW TO NORMAL SUGAR NOW.

But if I lose the weight will that help? And HOW OFTEN SHOULD I CHECK MY RANDOM AND FASTING SUGARS? EVERY MONTHLY OR EVERY 4-6 MONTHS.

IF I lose the weight and become normal weight. Will I still have problem in the future for diabetes as I had history of obesity or that wonít count.

Thanks

i have history of diabetes, heart disease, asthma and cancer from my dad's side and from my mom's side cancer, arthritis and depression

bal317 answered on 05/22/03:

Hello: The information I am going to supply you with, is for your furthering your education on hypoglycemia, but I can't tell you loud enough, gain knowledge with this information, but only take this info, so you can talk to your personal physician, he/she should set you down, and pre-write your concerns ahead of time, and completely go over your current health report, with direct proceedures for you to follow, that means meeting with a professional dietician who can give you the proper diet for you and will help you all the way to your goal weight, also, ask your physician if the weight that you must loose goes with your bone structure, and definately how long you should exercise at the begining that won't bottom out your levels, and all the effects that you should be looking for that needs immediate attention, and when you should check your blood level and what values need again direct attention. I direct you back to your personal physician because that is the very best way to keep your health and too reach your goals without back sliding or mentally draining you because you don't know what is going on.
Glucose, a form of sugar, is the body's main fuel. Hypoglycemia, or low blood sugar, occurs when blood levels of glucose fall too low to fuel the body's activity.
Hypoglycemia, can occur as a complication of diabetes, as a condition in itself or in association with other disorders.
Please view:
http://diabetes.about.com/library/blNIHhypoglycemia.htm

Also, remember loosing weight takes time and consitancy, plus will power to acheive your goals, writing down what you should eat and definately what you do eat daily and getting the proper caloric intake you must take to loose weight is a must. Gentle exercise as walking is the very best, but one must also keep a proper sleep program as well.
Getting it all under control, causes less mental stress and that can be done by turning to the pros. . Also, loosing weight can help one stay away from having diabetes, but all must be done correctly.

Hopefully, this helps. If there is anything further that I may assist you with, please let me know.

Hair coming out in bunches from the roots:

Today I got a very scary surprise when I was combing my hair and from the roots a whole bunch, considerable amount came out from the roots. It did not hurt and felt like someone just snipped it right off.

Is this something to worry about BECAUSE IT is just not strands of hair IT WAS A CONSIDERABLE BUNCH.

I know that when we wash our hair, hair usually falls off clogging the drain but this was totally different. It was something like they show on TV of cancer patientís hair coming off in bunches.

I am in good health with normal blood results. What should I do as I am really concerned. The same thing happened to my mom 2 days back. We eat a normal healthy diet.

Thanks

Hello: What seems unusual to me is that the same identical thing happened to your Mother's hair, if you two are living together and using the same hair products, or used something of chemical involvement or have been around the same things. Check out your surroundings first of all and the appliances that you have used on your hair, or if anyone in your household could be playing some sort of back-firing joke. Something seems to have happened that might have crossed between you two for this type of coiencidental happening.
Even a change with the laundry detergent, or water, or if something involving a chemical might have spilled on your towels, and definately check the shampoo/conditioner you both have used.
Then contact your physician and have your scalp looked at, to see if there might even be some sort of insect problem or rodent problem that could be attacking you while you are sleeping.

As our bodies mature from birth, the pituitary gland in the body produces HGH in large quantities. After the age of 25 years the natural production of this hormone lessens. Many doctors and scientists attribute the problems of the aging process of the body to the decreasing levels of HGH.

HGH supplements are not a hormone. They are scientifically balanced ingredients that stimulate the pituitary gland to naturally produce levels of HGH within the body at a level similar to that of youth. One of the probable results of this stimulation is that the metabolism rate will increase, causing the body to burn fat and calories more efficiently, even as the body is at rest.

Research and use of HGH is not a new thing. Many in the medical community began to seriously appreciate the effect of HGH supplements after the publication of a study in the New England Journal of Medicine in the 1980s. Now many patients experiencing the problems associated with aging are being prescribed HGH with dramatic results. Astounding improvements have been recorded in weight loss, energy levels and sexual vitality, muscle mass, memory and emotional stability, skin elasticity, and levels of resistance to illness. Other benefits were decreases in wrinkles, decreases in hair thinning or loss, and control of menopausal hot flashes.

At one time HGH could only be prescribed and administered by a doctor for deforming diseases such as stunted growth. The studies throughout the previous two decades have proven HGH so effective that it is now approved for cosmetic purposes and can be purchased at a reasonable cost by consumers who wish to feel stronger, healthier, and younger.

The scientific results are in! You really can look and feel twenty years younger by combating the general deterioration of the body with these 100 % effective anti-aging supplements! Read about the scientific studies here.
Dr. Daniel Rudman's study in the NEW ENGLAND JOURNAL of MEDICINE demonstrated the remarkable ability to reverse the effects of aging upon the human body with the employment of HGH - Human Growth Hormone! Due in part to his efforts, it has now become widely accepted that "The overall deterioration of the body that comes with growing old is not inevitable." Dr. Rudmans's study saw the effects of HGH upon overweight men between the ages of 61 and 80 years of age. The men did not alter their personal habits of eating, smoking, or exercise, yet with the consumption of HGH, they lost an average of 14% of their body fat, while gaining an average of 8.8% lean muscle mass. Their skin became firmer and they experienced a localized increase in bone density.

OVERALL, THEY APPEARED TO REVERSE THE EFFECTS OF AGING BY 10 - 20 YEARS!!!

This chart represents the results of a study on the Effects of Growth Hormone administration upon 202 patients of ages 39-74. L. Casserry, M.D., P.H.D. and Edmund Chien, M.D., Medical College of Wisconsin and Palm Springs Life Extension Institute.

"We really have something here which may be able to reverse some of the problems associated with aging", Dr. Anthony Karpos, M.D.

Can I still take HGH Supplement while I am taking other prescription drugs or over the counter medicine?
We are not aware of any problems with the interaction of HGH Supplement and other supplements or medicine, however, we do recommend that you always consult a medical professional if you feel uncertain about your supplemental therapy.

Can I still take HGH Supplement with my medical condition?
We are not aware of any problems with the interaction of HGH Supplement upon any medical condition, however, we do recommend that you always consult a medical professional if you feel uncertain about your supplemental therapy.

How long do I have to take HGH Supplement?
To best see the dramatic effects, we recommend that you take HGH Supplement for a period of at least 4 - 6 months. If you stop taking it after that time, your body will continue to benefit from the product for awhile. You may choose to begin the supplement again when you feel you need it.

At what age should I begin taking HGH Supplement?
After adolescence the levels of HGH that your pituitary gland produces will decline, so anyone older than 20 - 25 years should see and feel the benefits from taking HGH Supplement.

Hello: Beware, many products will and can display misleading comments based on a small study of those who have taken the product. But, one has to realize exactly what their body functions are and what their bodies are capable of accomplishing.
I can't yell loud enough. Speak to your personal physician about this drug, and what it will do to you in a positive and negative way.
Also, speak to your pharmacist about this drug, they will print you out a stat sheet about this medication and you can have this to refer too.
Bodies have been noted to increase in height, but one has too look at what caused the increase, many come from bettering their posture, shoe implants, some have had surgery which has placed an object in their spinal column or knee joint due to a problem that can show a small increas, but never have I heard of or seen an over-whelming increas in height by taking an oral medication.

Hopefully, this helps. You can always stick to a proper designed diet and walk with better posture, and well fitting shoes with newer style clothing to give off the impression you are taller, and in the (day) a woman would tease her hair to gain height.

Question/Answer
Anonymous asked on 05/21/03 - how do i stay perkey at work 12 hours a day

i work with people at work and need to stay on my feet and look presentable and always ready to help. by nature i am an emotional person and if something is not going good at job or home or just not feeling well i tend to get moody. the firt thing my boss did was to call me in his office and said "Change the tone of your voice its too harsh (its natural for me) and smile a lot" i told him sir you also never smile and kind of look serious all the time. So may be we are in the same boat.

anyway i always get "compared with" intentially or unintentially with my coworker who has been at the same company since the last 21 years, is always presently with perfect makeup a smile on her face and a lending ear. Though she is also tight liped and does not really share any thing or any work related gossip. sometimes i feel i can't breath around her because she is so perfect.

Anyway, she is also perkey. how do i stay perkey all the time the 12 hours i work? before i had tried smiling even when i did not feel like it and my sister asked me what was wrong with my health because i was not smiling naturally and it was looking false. so what do i do?

bal317 answered on 05/21/03:

Hello: We all have our own personality. Smiling continuous does not have to mean a toothy grin, but just calm and pleasant looks. Relax internally about the past, and go on from there. Learn how to accept your job's requirements, by knowing what it is physically that you are too do, and complete your phycial work. Then your attitude about those around you, remember, no one can change another's actions, but you can up lift your own. Work stays at work-deal with it- that is why it is always the best not to spread gossip, or egg other's on for getting rebelious, but blend in with your own casual talk, simple how are you, and kind happenings is the very best when working around others, simple small talk. Work comes first and foremost.
If you need to fix your personal appearance up, on your off day, go to a Salon, get some pointers on how to have your hair styled so less work is involved, also having your eyebrows shaped and a little stay on lip stick or gloss works wonders, pleasant but lightly used perfume, and body wash works great.
Get a book at your library on rebuilding self esteem and making friends, it quite simple if one does not take things to heart or personally, as we all need to work and doing it together is not always smooth, but is do-able, and if you need to respond to someone, take time in responding, count to 10, so you can collect your thoughts, then answer in simple kind, more monotoned voice, so one won't feel intimidated by you.
Saying Thank you and Please
Always is a big help.
Showing respect will get you the same response from others.

Hopefully, this has helped. If there is anything further that I may assist you with, please let me know.

Do you really want to invest false-ness in your life, other's eventually see through you, and by then one has acted so irregularly and hosting "self lies", one tends to forget reality from false, and eventually ends up an very unhappy person, without anyone wanting to be around them.
I can't tell you enough, these types of people seem to get ahead, but deep down inside they are only fooling themselves and when they hit bottom, all the rungs on the ladder they have broken to get up, will not be there, and that would be the people she has mislead.
Get out and enjoy being you, there is only one you and I am sure there are plenty of people who enjoy you, and at least you won't have a guilty conscious to clear up and the end of the day.

Anonymous asked on 05/21/03 - i want to get what my cousin has

my cousin who is the same age as me and normal looking has something special in her that makes everyone want to do stuff for her. nature wise she is mean and insulting and i sympathize with peoples' problems. BUT still when she tells my other cousins or friends, to clean her shoes, comb her hair, or smell if her socks are dirty people do it on command and the same people when i am nice to them they push me around.

how do i become like my cousin. i want to be like her and have command over everyone.

she even does the same thing to her numerous boyfriends. we had played a game. she said that look everyone knows that my boyfriend is busy at work but when i call he will come anywhere in the world for me and that happened. she called and he was at her house in 20 minutes.

so simple queston how can i become like her and have that attraction of people like they have for her as she is not that pretty but its in her nature.

bal317 answered on 05/21/03:

Hello: I can honestly say, your cousin might be able to manipulate others right now, but in time this type of attitude wears out and also can leave one very alone, and with friends that are so willing to speak behind her back.
One can never be exactly like another person, even in identical twins, but one can maintain common sense and good manners towards others treating them in kind for the betterment of long term friends and relationships.
People should never be forced to attend to anyone, people like to be around those that are not as intimidating or manipulative. Not like slaves or subsurviant help.
I would put this cousins attitude and actions right out of your mind, and I would stay focused on your own attitude and actions. Doing what you are made of, and saying what you are use to saying and treating others like you would want to be treated yourself. This is humanitary, kind and very much liked.
If anything for you, I would introduce myself to reading books on true friendships, which can be gotten from your public library, also on how to rebuild your self esteem, and get out from being directly underneath your cousin, when she starts ordering people around, walk away, and if she ask, tell her, you don't like watching her manipulative ways, it soon sinks in not only too her, but those who have been such a follower, and if is doesn't, well even a dog runs away after it's been beaten or hit too many times and some peoples actions and words can hurt just like a physical beating.
Don't let this happen to you.

Hopefully, this helps. If there is anything further that I may assist you with, please let me know.

Question/Answer
Anonymous asked on 05/21/03 - small talk, interesting conversation with strangers

when i was younger, now i am 29, in school the brown kids did not want to talk to me because first they thought that i was one of them a mexican which i wasnt i wasn an asian so they did not want to be too friendly. the white kids also did not want to be friends. then when we came back to our own country i was obese so my relatives and other people made fun and stupid comments. now i have lost the weight but still am socially not comoftable being with people or talking or just making friendly conversation.

i would like to know how to keep a conversation going with a stranger, be friendly and attract people to myself without the fear of being laughed at like i did when i was younger as those memories still come back sometimes and the confidence is all gone. like the relatives would comment hey do you remember when you were so fat that you were the size of a cabinet and fridge all rolled up in one and they say its harmless humor and i should not take everything to the heart. BUT they are the ones who can make everyone laugh at parties and make small talk. how do i do that too?

bal317 answered on 05/21/03:

Hello: I fully understand your situation. I too came from a small predominent white culture, I am black, but light skinned color. In my school, so often I was the only black student(as blacks were spread out), so many options were limited too me during my school days, which caused me to stagnate and not grow with confidence of knowing how to be in activities like acting, dancing, having a boyfriend, and many other things.
When I got the oppurtunity at 14 too go to a large city for the summer, I jumped at the chance, thinking Oh boy, I will get to be around a lot of my own culture, another big mistake blows up in my face, why, because I did not talk "black" and my skin color was not dark enough, so in my home town, during the summers we had migrant workers who where mexican's they spoke spanish, couldn't understand a word, but I loved to hear them all speaking and seeing brown colored people hugging, and laughing, then when a portion of the summer came the mexican's would hold a street dance where they crowned a mexican queen, that there made me realize, yes, being brown you could become a queen, and you could dance and laugh and love someone of your own race. Well, I married a black man and he did not have the same direction of though that I had, we always owned our own homes but he thought leaving me to watch the kids and have his own fun was so much better, I got divorced. During that time, of our marriage I had what I found out to be annorexia, I did not know it at the time, then I would gain so much, well my own mother would make terriable comments about me, because she never raised me, she would call me when speaking too or about me, dumbbell, ding-a-ling, tub of lard, or hey all meat and no potatoes, my breast have always been large. My name is annabell, so not only did I have my mother calling me names, my name was the only annabell in the entire school system of all grades, so I could never get a detention or I would be so embarressed, nor could I even buy anything that spelled out my name on a bracelet or cards, then when watching tv, I never heard any young programs that would say hello to kids by calling out a name ever calling mine.
But through all the bad, my class mates took me under their wings, they never ever up to this day even, ever called me out of my name or race, and we hugged each other and still do when we see each other, but all they did and still do, I had that block that was not their fault, but unfortunately the era of changes in this and many countries. I have been involved with good white men, and am married to a wonderful white man. So there is promise in todays world.
What I did, I started to educate myself in things I could not do when I was younger, but did it through adult classes. Yes, when I was younger I took dancing all my life, but could not be picked by the white adults to be in the school represented things, so I taught modern jazz and ballet, then as an adult I took Egyptian dance, from that I taught the classes for the Y, had my own tv show and done several parades and performed in front of several celeberties, I became a Nurse and directed many great cases for me as a wonderful blessing and accomplishment, I then became a Cosmetologist to help those with special hair needs, I also took flying lessons and raised my 3 children in owned homes all their life's. So what I am saying is take what negatives you have, and hold them in the background for strength, reach out of your world and go on to bring your self esteem and image up by taking on activities that can improve you, with that walk you will find those that are interested in what you are doing for they are trying to reach the same goals, you will also show you have power of the mind to your current friends and family, and always hold your own morals, don't let others take that away from you, for you are a child of God and are of great worth. Then when someone, anyone tries your patience with a negative word, simply ask, what is it that they find so funny or fasinating about how you use too be, and is'nt it time they move on, because it is obvious you have, so they should take hed after you and change. Or that, when I was younger I had many obsticles, I did not like having to gain weight, but as you see I took control, so you take control of your mouth and shut up. I don't like the negative jokes anymore, then let it go. If they don't respect you then they will only shoe their own ignorance, but don't join in and walk away.
Be proud of yourself, even go to a Salon and have a make-over.
But, making conversations with others comes from practice among those you have something in common. As for a stranger, a simple smile and hello. If you are in a room and need to conversate, then tell them your name and that you have lived where your at for whatever amount of time, and talke about what brings you together either the host, place or what is going on. Pratice in small doses because often times a listener is far better than one who holds the conversation full blast.

Hopefully, this helps. Remembering you are not alone as too the past history of how you were kept from exhalling, but you can now re-coop and go on. If there is anything further that I may assist you with, please let me know.

Question/Answer

Thanks

bal317 answered on 05/20/03:

Hello: I can understand your concerns, but you need to look at yourself and judge what was your interest in the past with school. Was it a duty or ok or really a no big deal that you went to school, you just went because you had too and did very little while there, but had no real interest. In any case your surely not alone because we all host memories from school days as we participated. If there were certain studies, or activities that we throurghly enjoyed then there would be an association and your memory would recall easier.
I would suggest you visit your physician, and ask him/her your concerns, having your past medical history and family history along with current values from the exam your physician can definately tell you any deficency's you might have. Also, if there is a need to show concern.
This would be the only true accurate findings for you with a definate out-come.
We all need to reflex on our past from time to time because that is our history of where we came from to current, and one should not have a great amount of difficulty in doing so, however, the daily living can cause stress and simple times we once had can get pushed to the background of memory recall, for whatever reason. You could also find one of your old high school year books, if you don't have one or one that you can easily get, then go to your public library and search out your year, then go through it and see if that helps you. If you can't recall many things from seeing that then I would see a major concern. But, again only with the proper medical professional can you completely get the correct footings to help you, for a positive out-come.
Don't become frustrated, and talk to your friends about the old days, don't take on too much at once but small and simple steps, until you start to feel comfortable.
Take time for you, and get proper rest, eat the daily 4 food groups, plus fruits, and your dairy products and don't forget the drinking of at least 8-10 12oz. glass of pure water daily, exercise by simple outdoor walking and focus on what your doing when you are doing it so the activity makes sense and has your total concentration and not automatic. When speaking too others try to use more eye contact so you can visually see expressions, see what people are wearing that is around you daily, plus their hair color and take notice of changes and how they normally looked, including yourself.
Hopefully, this helps. If there is anything further that I may assist you with, please let me know.

Anonymous asked on 05/20/03 - can this really do this? should i invest my hard earned money in this? Helsinki Formula

Startling Discovery

Doctors at the University of Helsinki Hospital recently made a startling discovery. A simple naturally based treatment that was able to reduce excessive hair-loss and even regenerate hair re-growth.

A Complete Hair Maximization Regimen

The Helsinki Formula is a complete hair maximization regimen consisting of a specially formulated scalp cleanser and vitamin enriched shampoo. Used as directed, the Helsinki Formula will attack and break down excess sebum and cholesterol and helps remove Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) from the scalp. This procedure cleanses the hair follicle and when used as directed, created a healthier hair growth environment in the majority of those tested.

Successfully Tested
Testing proved that this formulation is indeed remarkably safe and effective for both men and women who are experiencing hair-loss. In fact, in a research study, 80% of the subjects tested, experienced positive results. In a follow-up study conducted in France, dermatologists reported obtaining an identical success rate.

bal317 answered on 05/20/03:

Hello: I can understand your urgency in wishing this were true. Many times Companies will direct one into believing they have found the almighty cure for loss of hair. However, think, if this were a true developement, the news from all over the world would be so focused in on the product that we would hear about it from sun up too sun down. In fact there is no cure for balding hair, it is fact once the hair folical is dead that's it, just like life, once gone, your gone.
However, if there is not a true diagnosis of having alopecia, then there might be a possibility that there is another reason one is loosing their hair and that can be turned around with success, specially if one is loosing their hair due to a health reason such as stress, chemotheraphy, dietary, or physical pulling out the hair.

bal317 answered on 05/19/03:

Hello: As adults we subject ourselves to a multiple amount of daily task, without giving many a second thought, we don't seem to organize our activities. Then in all the mishap, we seem to forget several things that we want too do, or where we want to go, which brings about frustration, confusion and stress.
If we can set back and learn to organize our day, and not over-exstend our physical being to a point that we get over-whelmed and forgetting to take care of us first.
I would suggest getting a notebook and write down your daily task ahead of time, and giving yourself enough time to accomplish your errands without rushing, so your thinking about what it is you are doing, rather than going through the general motions.
Also, write down all your personal duties which include days, dates and times that you need to address Family, Holidays and special occassions, with a lead up date to the ones you have too get ready ahead of time.
Don't committ or take on more than what you can handle, and if ment with a problem ask for help among your friends or family to help you reach your goals.
Also, I have found a few great sites that are printer friendly, while at the sites the highlighted or darken wordings by clicking on these it will lead you to more information about the subjects.

Question/Answer
Anonymous asked on 05/16/03 - emotional thinking vs rational thinking

hi i have noticed that i tend to react to tense moments at work with emotional thinking rather than using my brain and rational thinking. i have seen that i have let opportunitites go by due to emotional reaction and if i had used my brain then i would have benefitted from my actions. How can i control the emotional thinking and their outcome and change it to more positive rational thinking and using my brain and benefiting from the situation. I have seen that when ever i use emotions i always come out at the bottom rather than at top.

bal317 answered on 05/18/03:

Hello: One great positive already is that you recognize what seems to be the problem.
Many of us have emotional reactions that tend to have negative reactions.
The one that most of us are aware of is, anger, that is why they have anger management requirements, for those who fly off the handle and approach certain conflict in a physical negative way.
Not that this is your situation(anger) but just using this as an example.
But, what all have in common is knowing how to use, control.
Controlling our actions for a positive return, is how we started out in life when we went to school, in order to get along and play with our peers, we needed quidelines, because we knew if we did not follow these we would not have many friends nor would we have fun because we would be in trouble with our parents or teachers.
Now that you are an adult, this control method is needed even more, because there is always new challenges out there, and ones nerves is almost always pushed to the limits, so what we say and do fully represent what we are made of and what type of person we truely are, and how we can intermingle with our adult peers.
I would recommend you seeking adult mental theraphy, for this type of problem, professionals have the full talent in knowing positive steps to take in order to communicate and react properly with each other.
Giving yourself time to respond to situations that you know irritate you or you know will allow you to respond negative.
Counting to yourself 10-20 seconds before you respond, even if you have to say, let me think about this for a moment, or I will look into this, or can we wait until I research or gain more information. Then give yourself time to collect your thoughts.
When responding to someone, learn not to raise your voice or trying to be intimidating to that other person, but keep them on the same level as you, and give them a chance to fully explain their side of the story without interuping them.
Grab yourself a book or exercise time to relax your body and mind, something with laughter or feel good outcomes, because the more of a lighter side of life can bring about a more calmer you.

Hopefully, these will help. If there is anything further that I may assist you with, please let me know.

Anonymous asked on 05/15/03 - going back to school with a rusty mind

Ways of studying:

Hi,

I am currently up for a position in my place of work but the manager has informed me that I will need more than a high school diploma to be considered a candidate for this position. I have done my high school in 1988. Now that I am deciding to go back to college, my worry is that my mind is rusty and I wonít be able to grab as much as the fresh out of high school students will be able to and be left behind in my class studies.

I remember in my high school days the only method of studying I did was to repeat my course material many times till it became memorized.

I am sure new techniques of learning and memorizing has come up which can work for me and give me results fast. Where can I find techniques to brush up on my studies which I left in 88 and learn with new techniques that would help me be faster and quick in the mind and help me grasp more material in less time?

My second question is that since I will be taking math and science classes where can I go and learn about basic maths and science so I am capable and in the same ranks as the other fresh just out of high school kids?

As my mind is blank and I can't recall anything which I did so many years ago.

bal317 answered on 05/15/03:

Hello: Re-entry to school, can be over-whelming if one lets it. We all have stories of how we should have done better in high school, but at that time, we knew education was a must, but mentally many of us took many educational situations for granted and to just get it done and over with, because we wanted the passing grade to get out of school, and really not thinking we would have to live financially by what we were learning.
Adult educators are going back to school to increase their value in life. Menatlly that is the best attitude to have.
All schools have counselors that fully understand the adult student, plus they have our transcripts from what we had done in the past, but they view this with understanding.
Meeting with your school's counselor you can fully explain your fears, and you can request information that you feel you have concerns about. Only by telling them what you need to improve on will they get a full indication of what you need to improve on or update so you will feel steady. Getting that comfort zone really helps, and also knowing you are being fully assisted and not alone.
Teacher's are there to explain the subject/s so the students can understand and retain with meaning the subjects they are attending.
Questions are a must and no question is a stupid one, because what you don't understand, another person is in the same boat, and even if they are not, you are too be selfish for you, it is you that counts, so ask away.
Many of us have responsibilities when we return to school, so organization of ones schedule is rewarding, that means telling family, friends and your job what your school schedule is, selecting the hours that you can study in quiet, proper area of study, and time limit to your studies.
Exercise, is important, we can't forget our general health.
Which includes eating, and not forgetting family, so they will be able to enjoy you and with that they will also feel apart of your efforts and will not seem to be of less importance, which brings about a positive attitude and gives you support.
I encourage workers to keep their studies quiet among their peers, yes it is known sooner than what you think, they know you are going to school, but many don't understand furthering their education and often times negative out-pours happen to discourage you, and one does not need that. But a kind thank you when asked if your going, and things are moving smoothly, seems to be more heard than bringing out a full text of your subjects.
I have found the following sites for you too view, don't forget your Institute can also lead you onto their Adult Continuing Programs they have available as well. Within these sites are darken or highlighted wordings, by clicking on these you will get further information which will help you and are printer friendly.

http://add.about.com/cs/education1/index.htm

www.eduplace.com/science/profdev/articles/valentino2.html

Hopefully, these will help. Seeing your schedule, you will definately know, how long each course will take you. If there are too many which require your relearning capabilities, don't be afraid to seperate the subjects and lesson your work load, because it is better to finish with good results than too cram so much in and not getting the results you really should have.

Then, I would question if you are a people person and don't mind more or less ordering others around on a repetitive action and longevity. Patience is also the practice of those pursuing this career.
Once you have that in motion, then seek out information from you Insurance provider and ask him/her to look up for Special Insurance options so you will be covered, in case of any type of accidents or anyother problems that could go wrong when dealing with the general or private public, also see if you must be bonded-so you can go in others homes or private facilities.

Hello: There possibly is a medical reason for this lethargic problem. I would highly recommend you going back to the Physician that seen you for your blood levels, and researching out the true facts.
Prior too, ask your Mother, if there is any family history of diabetis, thyroid, heart problems or any medical problems in your family that you should be looking into or telling your Physician, so he/she can get some background.
Also ask about anemia possibilities.
Then check your eating patterns and daily working or activities.
Specially, when you noticed this pattern of being sleepy and weak becoming a problem.

anyone know how to combact low key depression which is nothing major but causing a hinderance as i dont have the energy to go and exercise or do my studies. i just feel like sleeping and no matter how much i sleep i am tired and not fresh. are there any techniques i can do which will give me results on the spot? thanks due to depression i cant concentrate on my work are there any techniques for better concentration. thanks i also do comfort eating

bal317 answered on 05/14/03:

Hello: Depression comes in all forms. What helps is if you can point out what seems to be draining your spirit. If it is financial, then seek help from a financial advisor, your studies-schedule too heavy or not understanding a subject-,then speak to a school councelor to lesson your level of participation but still maintaing a proper level to eventually reaching your goals. Work/job-try to get organized or change positions either within your company or jobs.
One has to get in-tuned with reality of what is the problem. If you can't figure this out, again speaking with a School Counselor or a Counselor who specializes in mental theraphy should be on your list, they are so willing to help you.
Taking care of yourself. Contact your family Physician, fill him/her in on your general health problems as they are now, and schedule for a physical. Also, ask your Physician to go over how many calories you should be taking in per day, that will give you satisfaction, energy and not take away from your daily vitamin requirements. Make a diet plan, filling in what you are going to eat daily, plus snacks and seeing all that you eat comes out to the daily caloric needs, will help you visually see how to maintain your weight and hopefully not too benge eat, which will further you into depression because of the weight gain.
Exercises, get a book (from the library) or tape of exercises you can do, on a scheduled time of day, in your own privacy, exercises can naturally wear you down but not drain you.
Take time to bath or shower, the body needs the sluffing of dead cells that a shower can provide, or if bathing a loofa spounge can provide the same thing. Listen too soothing music-with the electric precautions followed-so you won't get hurt by having something close to water.
Get proper sleeping attire, and comfortable pillow/s.
Set regular routines for rest and awaken times, and stick to them, even if you have to tell friends/family, I won't be available from this time to the next.
Study periods, can also be timmed, but allow yourself a proper place to study with proper lighting and work area, with little to no interference.
Take time to enjoy the outside of your home/work/school. Set time aside to visit your friends, or go to the mall, or movies, and also a physical activity of swimming, golf-something that would be good for your body.
Laughter, always find time in the day to bring about joy, either from a TV show you enjoy, or talking to friends/family, reading a great book, something you enjoy.

Hopefully, some of these ideas will help. If there is anything further that I may assist you with, please let me know.

Question/Answer
Anonymous asked on 05/14/03 - good listening skills how do i get them in a hurry

Hi,

I work in a restaurant which is our family business. I tend to botch up orders. My husband says that I donít listen in the work area or in our personal lives. BUT Both of my ears are OPEN. Then how come I donít understand? I asked him to give me some pointers and he said that I needed to work really hard in my listening skills. What can I do?

bal317 answered on 05/14/03:

Hello: Congrats!! on being a part of a Family owned business. That can be very rewarding. But, one has to set back and really feel that they want this type of position. This is a dicision you have too come to terms with first of all. Is this career what you want. If you choose no, don't feel bad, because rarely do all families share the same desire. It takes alot of broad shoulders to work among our families, we are expected to take orders, actions and goals for a family position, more than an outside related employee. Dedication-plus,plus,plus.. So, the very first thing is to fully accept or not if this is your true calling, and don't be ashamed if you find out it is not. Because we all can't be Doctor's, or Resturant worker's and excel, if our hearts are not in it.
That goes for anything we do in life, where we share our life, be it work or relationship, even the places we go for entertainment, religion etc. . We have to want to be there or involved for our attention level to be active.
As in most jobs, there is regular situations, I would make a list of what your regular duties are and what should accurately be done, and time for completion of each duty, see if you are at the level which is expected of you, and if not, recorrect yourself, by either knowing from your experience on how to bring it up to par, or ask someone who can assist you in gaining more organization. But adhere to this once you have reached a satisfyed pace.
Never, assume. We often hear what someone is saying, and thinking we know that person so well, we automatically start assuming that you know what they are saying out of habit.
So, when they are saying something different, we (from assuming) don't catch the change and we see ourselves not doing what they felt we knew what to do. So, off set your attitude, as if they are fresh people and let them speak for themselves, not your calling, so you will have to listen more clearly, and don't fill in the blanks for them, allow them to fully communicate with you, for best results.
Co-operation, means setting yourself up for success. Personal success is fully accomplishing a duty on a constant level so no one has to question your capability.
Don't get aggitated at critisism. It is hard to listen when we block what the other person is trying to say, but write down what the mishap is and go over a direct plan on how to correct. This shows concern and willingness to be a team player, not someone who is stubborn or underminding the cause.
If needed seperate yourself from the position for a few days to collect your thoughts, if approved by whom ever is scheduling your duties, and don't concentrate on your job, but give yourself mental time off.
Never take work home, it is two seperate antities and never leaving work is a big no.

Anonymous asked on 05/08/03 - what can this be and how can i get rid of it

I am an overweight but healthy young female aged 29. I have pain in my joints after exercising like walking for half an hour or cycling for half an hour, or doing similar activity. I went to the doctors who told me to go to a rheumatologist who could not find anything wrong with me (nothing significant came out on the blood reports) though both of my parents have some form of arthritis.

What can be the cause of this slightly irritating problem. I also do not have a bath tub to soak in Ė hot water to relieve the aches and pains. I have a shower.

bal317 answered on 05/11/03:

Hello: Stress bottoms us out mentally and then our physical condition becomes weak. We have to learn mentally how to over-come our stress levels, how to approach difficult situations with a more positive and arranged manner, so we don't (paint ourselves into a corner)mentally.
We also have to say, enough is enough and put ourselves in check, so we don't over-due or bottom ourselves out. Yes, once in a while we all push the limits, but we have to know how to take rest periods from things that exshust us or drains our spirit.

Hello: We all arrange our dieting different, however, it is always best to set a goal weight that is appropriate to your bone structure, height and health, by visiting your physician for help with this, not only will you get the appropriate weight, but you will also get the appropriate caloric intake that you need to reach this goal and maintain the new body size. One can also after getting this from the physician, can converse with a nurse practitioner at the Health Services, where you can be weighed in, and diets can be gone over by the advice of a nutritionist, many of these services are free at a leading University Hospital in ones area, then you are not alone and again having the professionals directing you correctly.

One must eat to give the body fuel and omit body fatique during exercises.

hi how can i useMnemonics and hypnosis to combact anxiety attack during work where my mind goes blank. gan you suggest some techniques and sites i can visit thanks

bal317 answered on 05/11/03:

Hello: You have been given some wonderful sites, but my question is, when was you last physical check up with your Doctor? Because, anxiety attacks should be professionally diagnoised. Along with that diagnosis you will get a full description of what you should do safetly to help yourself. Which could be far more easier than learning a technique in which you think might be helping you or medication that you actually know is being monitored and is correctly helping. Many of us try to self diagnosis and many situations could be better off when getting the correct approach methods from the start.
My suggestion would be to start at the Doctor's first, getting the proper diagnosis then following through on a general but very benificial plan.

Hopefully, this helps. Please let me know if there is anything further that I may assist you with.

bal317 answered on 05/08/03:

Hello: I would strongly advise you too return to your physician and reapproach him/her to assest your health. Acid reflex or high acidity is not good.
Many problems can be alieviated by a good, well followed diet, not over eating or drinking and this includes milk, many substitute milk liquid for custard, or milk products. Also, you will need your physician to refer you to a dietitian that can fully explain to you your dietary needs and supplements, because there is milk that contains no ingrediant that causes acidity, but even that should be taken in moderation.
There is really no speaking help, you need a professional who can fully assist you and now.

Hopefully this helps, If there is anything else that I can help you with, please let me know.

Osteoporosis

Hi what is resistance building. I heard it is something new to help stop osteoporosis at bay? How does this work and how long does it take when the doctors say that women who do not take adequate amount of calcium will have brittle and fragile bones so how can weight lifting exercise can help and build protection again this and other diseases? Such as what? Can you name a few and how the process works? Diabetes, hypertension and what else?

Also I had heard that walking everyday help produce something I donít know what as I had read this article long time back but daily exercise helps to build up strength against common colds? How can that be possible? Meaning that from now on we donít take medicines if we exercise? How is that possible? What is the mechanism of it? Also how does exercise keep you young. I read somewhere that exercise can be the fountain of youth for some people? What does it have to do with skin, beauty creams and wrinkles?

bal317 answered on 05/07/03:

Hello: Osteoporosis is weakness of the bones, by building up the muscles, and by stretching exercises of keeping our bodies more limber which helps us bend and move without pain and also keeps the joints lubricated, we are supporting our bone structure, which helps our bodies frame by the bettering support. Also, there is a test called Bone Density, which is painless, then one can tell the strength of their actual bone structure. This also, tells if you need to readdress your dietary supplement by eating more of the Basic 4 food groups, including milk or dairy products, which helps the actual bones.
Walking is the very best form of exercise, because it is natural, no expense needed and the body will tell you when enough is enough, plus it benefits your lungs, posture when wearing adequte shoes and good posture alignment, and your heart upbeats which is the main muscle of the body, giving it exercise and this increases blood flow and all body parts are affected.
When we are doing exercises, we are trying to gain better health, mentally this is rewarding for the ole saying, "your as young as you feel", but eating properly, and physical movement always is our best friend.
There are exercises for all body parts, to help us improve what gravity and age do too us naturally.

Question/Answer
Anonymous asked on 05/04/03 - Not pregnant, but with all the symptoms.. what's up?!?

Hi,

I haven't had my period for over 6 months, except a wee bit of spotting the other day. My breasts are sore, and my tummies bloated. Had been on the pill up until 6 months ago when i went off it. Never got my period much as a teenager before i went on the pill either. Any ideas what could be up? I am sexually active with my partner.

bal317 answered on 05/04/03:

Hello: There are a multitude of medical situations that could be causing you this problem. Bare in mind, not all problems are life threatening. I would ask my regular Family Physician for your past medical records to be released to a referred Gynocologist by them, then both Physicians will be able to communicate and solve your problem. Naturally you will have to be examined by the Gynocologist, so being prepared by having a family history with you so you won't forget, like has anyone in your immediate female members ever had such issues, when you started your menstrual cycle was it similar to your Mother's, or even your GrandMother's, recent medical problems you have had(injuries, infections, or discoloration and irritations).
Then, mentally have you been going through difficult times that would cause you stress, or how do you feel about pregnancy and do you feel comfortable around your significant other, as well as other people, and are you generally an out going person.
I would strongly suggest contacting your priamry Physician, either asking him/her for a referral to a Gynocologist ASAP(now). Then following through with their suggestions and always keep them informed of your medical condition until they suggest you are alright.
I suggest this because, yes there are a multitude of situations that could be happening, one could go on and on, but this would only create false answers, the Physicians would be the only true help.

Hopefully, this will help you. If there is anything further that I may assist you with, please let me know. One should never take this type of issue in their own hands.
My very best to you, and please let me know how you come out.

Question/Answer
Anonymous asked on 05/02/03 - i am getting married on Decmber 13

This certainly an embarrassing question to ask but I will ask for my to be husband. Sine it will be my first time, and his only God knows how many, are there any exercises that can be done on my part the wife to increase sexual potency. I am an adult female and already know about sex as I was a medical student but left my studies due to getting engaged. I would like to know how many ways I can please my husband as I am too shy to discuss this topic with my mother and I do not have any female sisters or cousins. There is no way I can ask my husband this question.

bal317 answered on 05/03/03:

Hello: Congrats!!! on your upcoming wedding.
One thing to remember before you start your search. You are what your soon to be husband wants, he fell in love with your attitude, personality and how you returned your love to him. Many jump the gun and introduce sex into their lives before the marriage, then one has to deceide is it all for lust that your partner wants to hold onto, so you have been blessed not to have to think about that.
It seems to me, when a person or people get married, and have not been with each other sexually, they let Mother Nature take over, because there is no rules to sex, no one can tell you what will actually work for you. Because you and your soon to be husband will slowly learn from each other. It will be your body chemistry that will take over and will help you both through this. Sex, is wonderful and we all who are married have been blessed by children coming from our sexual love, but one can't tell you A-Z, on how to approach your hubby.
I have found a site that within that site are suggestions of what you possibly can expect, and suggestions of what to gear up for. One should take time prior to their Wedding, in your case now, and speak to a GYN-female physician, this way you can be examined and know that you should be able to have sex without any problems, I had one friend who was vaginally small and the physician gave her cones to insert with instructions of lenght of time and all, to help stretch her so she would be able to receive her husband more comfortably. But, primarily, getting you introduced to birth control, and female hygiene products once you have been with a man, so you won't have any tale tale odors. We all need to know about diseases.

Anonymous asked on 05/01/03 - i just had to ask because i have these episodes

This might sound like a silly question but I have learned that during the time of my period and short time before and after the period and also when I sleep with a full bladder I dream a lot. Is this true for females? Does sleeping with a full bladder or during periods gives you chances of having more dreams or nightmares?

bal317 answered on 05/01/03:

Hello: When it comes to humans, nothing is silly, we all have different occurances.
Dreams, have been a focus of many great Psychologist, and they all have had their theories. Some feel purpose of dreams is to release stress. Many feel dreams are messages from the subconsciousness.
I have found a site that indicates, what effects our dreams, and they say, menstruation has influence on women.
Please view:

www.design.in.th/dream/3influence-e.htm

I believe, our bodies have a way of telling us what we need to do to protect ourselves, take care of ourselves and to alert us from protocal that we have learned, such as going to the bathroom and not eliminating on ourselves as we have learned the signals when our periods are soon to arrive. So, with knowledge of these catagories subconsciously, one can associate a sleep pattern or other things we do with these episodes.

Anonymous asked on 04/24/03 - quick fix

ho to get rid of the deep dark circles embedded/Rooted under my eyes and on top of my eyelids frieds say that i am wearing light brown eye shadow. i drink 15 glasses of water a day and sleep 10 hours a day.

bal317 answered on 04/25/03:

Hello: Dark circles can appear due to allergies as well as these other facts:
Age- the skin can get thin, showing the blood vessels underneath the eye and on top of the eyelid.

Allergies- Often the blame, anything that causes Chronic nasal obstruction can be the culprit.

Drinking- Caffeinated beverages.

Fatigue- Lack of sleep.

Stress- Emotional, physical and mental stress.

Hereditary- Allergies/thinner skin can pass from generation to generation.

Over-exposure to Sun.

Menestration.

Pregnancy.

Smoking.

Alcohol consumption.

Unknown medical health.

Known medical poor health.

Eating the wrong foods.

There is no one effective treatment for dark circles, but there are some ways to help alleviate or conceal.

Contact your local physician, and get a physical, focusing on why medically you have the problem, and also you will be giving this Physician your past to current health history.

Drink lots of pure water.

Plenty of rest.

Apply cold compress or cool thin sliced cucummbers over eyes, while getting extra relaxation.

Quit smoking.

Quit excessive drinking.

Stress- Receive proper professional help, and cut back on what is bothering you.

Diets- One should remember using the Basic 4 food groups, caloric intake and not forgetting the veggies, fruits and milk. One can purchase a caloric food book, and plan their daily meals.

Use a concealer, choosing a color that's one shade lighter than your actual skin tone and while using, blend with finger tips, not the nails and smooth is the rule, because one can drag their muscles which surroung the eye-lid areas causing wrinkles, so blend softly then apply your make-up and again blend into the hair line.
Also, there are so many beautiful eye shades colors out, try and find one that is complimentary to you, and in doing so, keep away from the browns, go lighter, use mascara on the lashes and have your eye brows shaped, opening up the actual eye can be a rewarding experience.

Use creams that contains Antioxident Vitamins like Vitamin C.

Always, use fresh clean preverbly, white in color wash cloths for cleansing the face, with smooth soft strokes in circles going upward to eliminate the actual gravitation the face goes through daily of being drawn downward. Stay away from perfumed soaps on the face, and many find using Noxemma regular or Noxemma Medicated to put on face, not directly on the eye lids, but under the eyes, leave on to dry for about 15 min. then remove with clean tempid water, then applying Noxemma lightly prior to using any make-up.

Hopefully, this has helped. If there is anything further that I may assist you with, please let me know.

Anonymous asked on 04/25/03 - getting rid of double chin and extra weight

I'm 45 and am beginning to show sagging under the chin. I'm 5Ƈ and weighs 138 pounds. Can you please tell me how best to get rid of it and what is my ideal body weight corresponding to my height? What's the best way to get to it without dieting too much? Thanks a lot.

bal317 answered on 04/25/03:

Hello: It seems as we get older we tend to retain weight, simply because our physical exercise lessons. Walking is the simpilest form of exercise, so setting time apart from your daily routine and walk brisk enough to elevate your heart rate slightly, many Mall Walk, and remember posture good alignment and great fitting shoes.
Also, we are seeing more fast food places, we need to adjust our daily nutritional intake, many go to the physician that is framiliar with them and ask, how many calories should I intake daily to maintain, and how many calories do I need to intake to loose weight. Then purchase a calorie book of normal foods that will tell you all the facts, of each product and set yourself up a daily calendar of meals, what you eat, amount of calories per item, try to give yourself 3 meals per day, including a snack and don't forget following the basic 4 food group is always a plus and drinking at least 8-10 12oz. glasses of pure water to help release waste toxins from the body and to help the body replace fluids.
Having a great attitude, while following a diet, yes be consious of what your doing, but don't take it to the exstreme as to obess.
Ask your physician about a daily vitamin supplement and inquire about calcium requirements for you for bone strenght protection, osteoporosis is a womans fear.
For a facial exercise that I feel really works, setting properly, actually tighten your facial muscles, then bring down the corners of your mouth and draw up the under chin and stretch the neck, hold for 10 sec. then slowly release and do reps. of 5-10 for 3 times per day. You will feel the neck, lower and under chin and also the upper chest to the breast lift while your doing this exercise, and results are amazing. I like this because it can be done while at work and one's muscles seem to recall and your holding yourself without realizing it after done for a while.
Try not to sloop or slump shoulders and hold head erect.
Because we all have different body types, I would strongly suggest going to your Physician and let him/her deceide if you have small, medium, or large bone structure, and also you will be asked about your family genetic makeup, and our own metabolic rate.
Then I also feel one who takes care of their daily hygiene, seems to appreciate what they are doing for their bodies. Take that extra time to shower, and treat yourself to a bubble bath with soothing music (safely away from the tub), using a loofa sponge to exfoliate away extra dry skin cells, and using candles for aromma theraphy. We as youthfull ladies, loved ourselves and had a great after feel when we had taken the time to pamper our bodies, you deserve it, and it also helps distract the fact you are physically working on you, as you enjoy the you, you are right now.
Hopefully, this helps. If there is anything further that I may assist you with, please let me know.

I would recommend you asking a professional that deals with bone structure, either a Physician who is an Orthropedic specialist, or Chiropractor. Also, a Nutritionalist.
They can give you the facts to be true.
Also, one can increase their height, by becoming aware of their posture, it seems like we have a tendancy to slump our shoulders not only walking, but setting and specially when we are driving our cars and some when they use certain types of bicycles or motorcycles due to the position of the handle bars.
One tends to forget their abdominal muscles and seem to not hold their stomachs in.
When walking we tend to purchase unsupported shoes which cause our feet to hurt or get tired and we compensate for this by sight of poor posture.

Hopefully, this helps you. If there is anything further that I may assist you with, please let me know.
